Young Pioneer Tours started from humble beginnings back in 2008 by a small group of expats living in China brought together by the love of being on the road. Through our own travels we learnt what makes and breaks a good trip. Now, with over a decade of experience running tours all around the world, we tailor our tours for what you, the Pioneer, wants; seeing and experiencing other cultures, commu

nicating with others, making new friends and pushing the boundaries of adventure travel to create unique memories that will stay with you forever. We have over a decade of experience bringing travellers to North Korea and over 100 other unique destinations. All our group tours include an experienced YPT multi-lingual guide who gives you the opportunity to do things you couldnโ€™t do without them there to make it happen โ€“ something which is of utmost importance when off the beaten track. We have a great reputation for immensely fun guides who bring out the travel bug in people while ensuring that everything runs smoothly. There is an attitude to travel commonly associated with experienced travellers (be they backpackers or looking for more comfort) which we fully believe in; going out of your way to help others on the road, share experiences and make friends wherever you can. Itโ€™s this attitude which has opened doors to us that canโ€™t be opened in other ways. Perched dramatically atop cliffs that offered it protection throughout history, Constantine captivated us with its natural grandeur. Known as the "City of Suspended Wonders," it is famous for its bridges, like the Sidi M'Cid and El Kantara, which span deep gorges and offer panoramic views of the cityโ€™s beauty. We wandered through the Kasbah, visited the Emir Abdelkader Mosque, and explored the beautiful Museum of Cirta - home to stunning mosaics and Roman statues.

Our last day saw us going to Cherchell and Tipaza, on the Mediterranean coast.

In Tipaza, we explored the UNESCO-listed seaside Roman ruins, and also saw the legacy of Cherchell, a former Roman outpost.

What is Rason? Rason is the largest Special Economic Zone of North Korea, established in 1991 as a result of the fall of the Soviet Union, and it continues to hold a unique position within the country.

Tourism in Rason differs significantly from what visitors experience in โ€œmainland DPRK.โ€ In many respects, it is slightly freer, although there is less to see and do compared to Pyongyang or other parts of the country.

โ˜Rason gives tourists the opportunity to see the business side of the DPRK with visits to factories, the port, a foreign language school, a Taekwondo school, a North Korean bank and more.

North Korea has reopened tourism in Rason, its Special Economic Zone in the northeast of the country, according to our local DPRK partners. The official reopening is technically effective from today๐Ÿ‘€

Today, our Pioneers explored the Roman ruins of Djemila, Algeria's UNESCO World Heritage gem!

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Djemila welcomed us with its timeless beauty. We walked the ancient streets, so well preserved that it is easy to imagine life in a Roman city; we stood in front of the Arch of Caracalla, so stunning that the French almost brought it back to Paris in 1842; and we admired the artistry of 2000-year-old mosaics โ€“ their colours still vibrant even today! We can say that Pioneers left no stone unturned (pun intended ๐Ÿ˜‰)!

With the fall of the regime, we have gained further access for you to visit Sednaya Prison to see and hear the harrowing hardships the Syrians faced under Al-Assad, as well as the city of Idlib โ€“ which was previously strictly out of bounds for decades and the very centre of the Syrian revolution.

We also drive to the top of Mount Qasioun โ€“ the highest peak in Damascus offering a panoramic view of the capital. Under the Assad regime, this mountain was completely off limits for foreigners as it offered perfect views of the presidential palace and other sensitive sites.
