Just occasionally I surprise myself by actually looking like I know how to ride a bike! This was definitely one of those moments 😎

Got myself a new e-bike last week, I was kinda fed up of the old one doing weird things on jumps and sucking all of my confidence. In the summer I got a Scor 4060 LT and liked it so much that I knew immediately I wanted the electric version.

I wanted a bike which could do big jumps up in bikepark during the inter season, but it also had to be able to ride up and down single track. Took a bit of a gamble on this, the 6080 Z , a 190/180mm travel bike. It could have been a dog uphill with that mad travel combined with a short rear end but those chaps at Scor seem to know what they’re doing because it goes uphill just fine and also makes me look like I can ride a bike. Win win!

Very happy, glad it’s finally stopped raining and I can ride it!

Big up to for the bangers 🤘📸

One year ago today I was just starting rehab after an operation to reconstruct one of the ligaments in my knee.

It feels like a very recent memory, especially that first afternoon driving back from hospital with a knee the size of a melon, and somehow not feeling awfully groggy after a general anaesthetic, but it also feels like ages ago. 🤷‍♀️

I was diligent with my rehab and evidently my surgeon Dr Franck at Arthrosport near Annecy did a good job too. I kept myself busy learning how to paint with an airbrush and trying loads of funky paints on old helmets. I did one or two uplifts for my friends. We discovered Girona road cycling and coffee, and in April we went back to Spain to ride DH and dirt. Considering I snapped my ACL on a jump, the jumps didn’t bother me at all… but technical bits really did. I got one day in on the skis, in my self-painted ski helmet, and my knee felt just like before 😌 . Had a great season of guiding, forgot my fear of techy bits, did a couple of massssiiiiiiive dabs and the knee just shook it off just like it would have done before.

The adventure-lust is back, and I am excited for the next few weeks of riding new places and exploring new trails! And Girona road cycling is back on the agenda too, can’t wait for that! 🚴‍♂️

Can’t wait for a full season of skiing this winter, more playing with paint, and getting back into the gym to get these legs even more bomber! 💪🏻🤩

Cheers for reading, enjoy my year in pictures!

Les Arcs bikepark day! I think it’s 5 years at least since I last had time for this! Woodstock is by far the best trail with some genuinely good berms half way down and a sweet little six pack to jump too. Fun first day of my mid-season break 😎😍 Silent bike brought to you by 💪🏻

Tomorrow I’m gonna dig up the naughty mint that’s trying to take over my garden. Rock n roll!! 🤘

Well that’s it! My favourite guiding week of the year is done and dusted! 🌼More flowers, more singletrack, searching for a lost bleed screw ( using the 🧲 on his eeb brake disk to hopefully suck it out of the grass! I found it!) bonus flowers, bonus singletrack, a little rock portal that makes me think of the Lake District, final meadow of the final descent, working tractor scoring plenty of points (IYKYK) and of course no ride is complete without a post-ride beer! 🍻 The Cathedral of Flow delivers as always 😍

Big up to the MAD and Welsh crew for a great week in the mountains🤘🥳🌼

What a day! 🌼Flowers into Italy for some bona fide Italian coffee and gelato ☕️🍨and then one of my favourite bits of rock at almost-golden hour back into France and the Best Trail Ever!!! So much fun!

Big up to Adam for his pro line down the slab rock, I tested it and can confirm it’s 🔥🔥Only a few centimetres across from my usual line but precision makes the difference 🤘

Big smiles from returning to the fold after a couple of days off with illness 🥳

Thanks to and for a couple of lovely shots!

Went up a big mountain today! It’s an effort but the reward is worth it! Picked up a little passenger on the way 😍🌼 Over 1000m descent in a oner and no photos to prove it. Ah well! That’s day 4 ticked off in the Cathedral of Flow.. Here are the pics of us going up hill and along 🤣. Oh we had our new driver, The Stig, today, although he has changed his helmet style and colour.

I love guiding our Cathedral of Flow trip in the Queyras! Epic views, incredible trails! Should’ve put a food photo too seeing as that’s been deeeelicious as always but too busy eating it 🤣.

Another 3 days including a trip over to Italy for proper coffee, can’t wait!

Let’s go! week 2 with ✨The Princess ✨ as my clients have dubbed my 4060LT! Something to do with the sparkly top tube I think 🤔 .. swipe for a closer look 👈

Loving the pure silence and planted feel of this lush bike!! This week it’s gonna be a mix of this one and my eeb as the old knees whinge about big climbs these days 😔. I might need to upgrade to the Scor eeb very soon cos I am loving the suspension platform on the 4060. Supple and bottomless 😍

Anyway time for breakfast! Enjoy your week everyone 🤘

Les Arcs Back Country E-bike version C O M P L E T E !

Brilliant week with a group of experienced e-bikers who were keen for technical climbs and big days out. Super cool for me because it meant I got to put stuff together which I can’t usually guide with folk on classic bikes… and there is so much more we didn’t even have time to do (probably because we were too busy trying to clean the technical climbs and ride up slab rock! 🤣). A week just isn’t long enough!

Looking forward to more weeks like that in the future - give us a shout if you are a group of eeb mates keen for alpine adventures!!

First race post ACL reconstruction, here we are!

Bit of a rollercoaster this one, from fully hating it on Friday morning to laying down a fairly tidy top sector in qualis on Saturday afternoon and then wondering what was the point on Sunday (and nearly not racing!) 🤣 .

Enjoyed it, keen to race more again, iron out some annoying “characteristics” of Emily as a racer which get in the way of better times (an ongoing project that!). Nice to feel fitter and stronger than anticipated too (thanks !) 🤘

P12 with a solid top sector and questionable bottom half.. beaten by too many 15 year olds but it is really cool to see the level is so strong in these young’uns so can’t complain too much!

Now to start guiding season - without a whacky knee this year!!

🤳 .

Tomorrow I’ve Scor’d a hot date with this beauty, can’t wait! I think me and this lovely 4060 LT are gonna get on just fine!

I picked this colour specifically because I had an idea for a little custom hot pink and sparkles artwork on the top tube. For an amateur with no idea, pretty happy with how it turned out!

1. Everyone loves a bike and door photo
2. There’s that funky top tube art!
3. The silver Mallet DH pedals look mint on this build!

When you can paint your own bike, you might as well paint your helmet to match.. more on that later! Plus obviously sunshine photo of sparkles to follow 😉

Today marks one year since I snapped my ACL on the silly little jump out of the start at Leogang World Cup.

They say that a ruptured ACL is one of the worst injuries you can have and clearly I wish I still had the original model, but the very long down time have me a chance to find other things to do with my time.

99% of the time it feels like I never did anything to it, and I discovered Girona road cycling, had a business idea which is in the works, and very definitely discovered a love of painting things - projects ongoing 😉 .

I started officially mountain biking again in late March after a house move, but confidence had taken a serious knock. After broken bones which didn’t seem to bother me, I was quite surprised ! That sounds pretty silly looking back, I mean of course confidence would be low! I guess I just didn’t expect it.

Anyway here’s a little round up of key points from the last year .

1. Where it all began, Leogang World Cup
2. Say hello to Melonee
3. Doing jumps and drops a week later in Les Gets with in blissful ignorance
4. Couldn’t fully bend or straighten my knee but trail clearing seemed ok!
5. Carried on guiding my clients for the rest of summer.. still in blissful ignorance as to what I’d done!
6. Dressed up for surgery 31 August 2023
7. Once I could drive again, I did uplift for my friends. It was a nice way to get a bit of bike buzz without riding.
8. Girona! Without this injury we would never have discovered this gem of a place.
9. My first day on skis - the last Thursday of the season! And sporting my ski helmet which I repainted because messing about with an airbrush became my new “I’m injured” hobby! The skiing was awesome, the knee felt bomber 💪🏻

Thanks for reading! I hope this might inspire other broken people to know sometimes good things can come out of the worst of situations 🙂

Super proud of Team FOLD who got two podiums and a championship on their first outing! Especially proud of , sliding into 3rd and his first podium!!

Quite mad to think that was so over it on Saturday she wasn’t going to race. Luckily some team chat helped her change her tune and she had a mint day today, going 26s faster on her second run despite catching someone up! Becoming the Champ of the Haute Savoie was a brucey bonus 🤘

is working on finding the positives but from where I’m sitting he had a great day in practice yesterday, found a mega line no one else saw and ticked off all the “challenges” in 3 runs on a brand new-to-him track. Also, after 8 years off of DH racing, it‘s always going to be a voyage of rediscovery. 🤘

Great weekend at Manigod Cup race, mega track and good vibes. I did practice but didn’t race.. still don’t feel race ready and the trump card excuse is that my surgeon told me not to race til mid-June 🫡 . Practice was good though and the confidence is coming 😎

Next time Team FOLD will be at Les Arcs in 5 weeks so everyone will be doing intervals 5 times a week and riding their DH bikes non stop between now and then. See ya there!

Ahaaa!!! Just looking at pictures from the .team.ch race in , can’t help but get excited!!! It’s not til early September but me and David are racing as a mixed pair, it’s gonna be a laugh! I hope we will be hoppin n poppin like these guys in the first picture but that incredible landscape could be quite distracting!

Meanwhile, I’d like some sunshine instead of rain here in the alps 🤣
