Port St Francis, a privately owned working harbour, proudly showcases her colours. It is home to restaurants, retail outlets, offices, residential properties, guest houses, and self-catering accommodation.

The Chokka (Calamari) plaques you see within the Port provide visitors with deeper insight into the chokka industry. For a long time, it was difficult for locals and tourists to indulge in the delicacy lovingly dubbed "White Gold," as nearly every catch was exported abroad due to the extremely high demand for this particular species.

However, this changed with the introduction of the Calamari Route, allowing visitors to enjoy locally caught chokka at various restaurants in and around St Francis Bay and Cape St Francis.

If you've never tasted it - do yourself a favour, you only live once!

We have two incredible photo's to share with you this week. Leon Grundling took this photo of steps at Kouga dam which was repaired by our mechanical workshop and painted by Vuyani and his team. This was an enormous task completed by Danny and his team. Definately not stairs to climb for the faint hearted.

Ons deel twee fantastiese foto's hierdie week met julle. Leon Grundling het hierdie foto geneem van trappe by Kougadam wat reggemaak is deur ons meganiese werkswinkel en geverf deur Vuyani en sy span. Dit was 'n enorme taak vir Danny en sy span. Beslis nie trappe om te klim vir 'n man wat bang is nie.

The Milkwood Tree (Sideroxylon inerme subsp. inerme) stands as a cherished emblem of South Africa’s natural heritage.

With its distinctive gnarled and twisted branches, glossy leaves, black berries, and white milky sap, this remarkable tree plays a vital role in coastal ecosystems. The Milkwood Tree is a legally protected species. It may not be harmed, relocated, or felled.

South Africa boasts with four Milkwood Trees that have national monument status, highlighting their cultural and ecological significance. These trees connect us to our past while nurturing our future. Let us unite in safeguarding these living treasures.

Conservation efforts today focus on protecting these trees due to their slow growth and past overexploitation.

🎣🏆 Huge congratulations to Gerhard Guse and Dewett Stroebel from JBAC - JeffreysBay Angling club and Fish Fighters for earning their Protea team colours! 🇿🇦💚

🐟 Dewett fished at Junior Nationals and proudly received his first Protea cap—a milestone moment in his angling journey!

🥇 Gerhard Guse struck gold at the locally held Masters Nationals, earning his 10th Protea cap! His achievements are nothing short of legendary—he’s been a South African Champion Angler in every division he’s competed in: Juniors, Seniors, and now Masters! 👏🎣
