Our 7th wedding Anniversary in the Florida Keys! The water is so blue and warm. We’ve been tenting, riding our bikes around the campground, doing mermaid photo shoots, snorkeling at the reefs and cooking our own meals on a portable stove. I love this!

Date day with my husband-he directed and took mermaid photos of me at the beach, we walked miles picking up beautiful shells, and sat on the shore watching dolphins. Despite it being cooler months, it’s still warm enough to be in the water for a short time. I’m wearing my gothic inspired tail, sequin top, and Elegance monofin that I designed and created. I’m now selling these monofins, for your use in a fabric mermaid tail. It measures 36” across, and 42” long and is $450. You can choose your boot size for a perfect fit! Hi everyone! I wanted you to know I’ve begun a procedure to help my severe depression. It’s called NeuroStar, and is a T.M.S magnetic therapy.

It’s relatively new, and only recently approved by the FDA. My doctor mapped my brain, and pinpointed the area that is usually shut down from the depression, then a magnetic pulse is applied to “wake up” the brain. It’s a very rigorous treatment-I go in EVERYDAY for 20 minutes minus the weekends for 6 weeks. It’s not painless, the magnetic pulses feel like powerful zaps and twinges in my head. Because the left side of my brain is being zapped my right hand will twitch.
So I’m thankful the sessions are short. Many people have had success, and no longer have to take copious amounts of antidepressants. Hopefully that will be the case for me. Moving to Florida was the best decision I made, but I’ve been stuck in bed and unable to function or thrive since being here over a year. I want to go scuba diving! I want to exercise! I want to start my business up! But when you can’t take care of yourself or move because of the weight on you is suffocating, you’ll try anything to make it stop.

TMS treatment is kind of a last resort when medications haven’t worked. The side effects I’m having now are some little headaches and a mood swing yesterday and some tiredness today. Will keep updating you all! Love you!

Happy Valentine’s Day from Florida! My hubby took me on a date to the beach and carried my bag full of shells for crafting. We scouted places to do amazing mermaid photo shoots. So many Horseshoe crabs on the shore today. But the shoreline was covered in some of my favorite shells that then filled my bag. I can’t wait to start working with them. Shrimp, Spanish rice and sangria wine tonight for dinner!

I’m so thankful for this man in my life. There is no one I’d rather experience life’s journeys with than my husband. And since moving to Florida, we’ve had many adventures. He’s my best friend and greatest supporter, and together we are unstoppable. When I first met him I was nervous to explain my mermaid passions and dreams. But he thought they were special and important. Love you sweetie!

I wanted to thank my brothers and sisters in arms, as well as my family members who have served in our armed forces. I met my husband who is now a veteran, when he was in the army, and have since celebrated 6 years of marriage. We've moved from one corner of the country to the other, and have made a good life for ourselves. Not everyone who's had a family member serve still has them here today, or can live out their planned life with them. I'm grateful to them, and their ultimate sacrifice to our nation and people. Tonight's necklace is inspired by the twilight over the ocean. The beads and peals reflect the clouds, the soft blues of the sky and the gentle lavenders/pinks of a setting horizon. And the black chain and eye pins and ring represent the night. The shell is one I found myself, and has a black gloss then with a blue color-shifting glitter lacquer.

My mother came to visit me here in Florida, from Washington State. We spent the day at Caladisi Island and found 40 Florida Fighting Conch Shells! We threw just as many back because they were still alive, or were in poor condition. We also saw dolphins from the beach, as well as from the ferry boat. We had such a fun time this week! Thanks mom!

I enjoy the unusual and strange, so I made a mixed media art collage of my most unique finds. This one features a heron pelvis, another bone, a cork, seashells, a large green snail shell, feathers, a petrified fish’s fin, coral and pottery with a black plastic chain link. It reminds me of something you’d see in Ye Olde Curiosity Place in Seattle. Back out to the beach again today to restock on treasures.

I made my Amethyst mermaid tail many years ago. It used my shop’s Sirena style monofin, and 2mm neoprene that I hand painted. The shape and style of the Amethyst tail was inspired by the mermaids in Pirates of the Caribbean.

Learn more about Tempest Monofins, and meet the Spike Monofin! This is the most uniquely shaped monofin out there-and it’s very user friendly. The edges are beveled, and smooth. No sharp points, and it is resistant to cracking, ripping, or fractures. Each one of the spines moves individually, making this monofin the base of a very believable mermaid tail.

Today I took Joey to the beach, where we found a few shells and some interesting treasures/trash. I always pick up the trash I see at the beach, knowing I could prevent an marine animal’s needless death.
My creative mind is thinking of making a mixed media art piece with all the interesting trash I collect.

But just to sit in the ocean and let the salt water wash over me is so cleaning to my soul. I cannot survive, let alone thrive without the sea. Simple as that. And what’s even better is that it has been scientifically proven that walking for 20 minutes next to a body of water significantly decreases your stress hormones. But that’s not good enough for me-I always end up in the water to get that extra boost of goodness. 🙂
