Travel with Jenni I enjoy reflecting on and writing about my life experiences. Information here is eclectic and my personal response to where I have been, am, or will be.

Safaga is the closest Port to Hurghada, which was a tiny fishing village in Jan, 1986. From there we spent a day snorkelling on the Red Sea and eating a BBQ lunch on a sandbar.
We had to receive approval to enter the Red Sea from the local Police. I snorkelled there for the first time. Fortunately it marked the beginning of a love affair. :-) Jx

Lectures on board are fascinating and they cover a range of topics.
One series is being given by a former Medical Doctor turned Astronaut, another by Jane Corbin, who is a BBC reporter and yet another is by an Astrophysicist. J x

We have enjoyed talks by an Astronaut, who spent six months on ISS, a Professor of Astrophysics, a Prison Warder who had been a Bank Manager, a BBC reporter who studies Terrorism, a Travel Writer and an Egyptologist, so far! It's wonderful! J x

At the entrance to an Exhibition Hall, now demolished, is the local Arc de Triomphe. As we walked between buses, we found foundations from the 15th, 16th and 17th Century. The historical references to the sides were fascinating. We're unsure who did like the despotic Bourbons..... J x

We loved Barcelona in 1985 and we still love this vibrant city with amazing architecture, art and food.

Thanks for coming to say Goodbye, Simon!
Kathleen Antulov-Tenni drove us to Terminal 1 last evening. Ma Petite was raring to travel. :-)
We flew Emirates to Barcelona via Dubai. I have included some examples of the video with Arabic subtitles, which occurred while the Arabic version was played. On the second flight all the notices were in English, Arabic and Spanish.

Travelling on Emirates was a first for us and it was a very good experience. The stewards were relaxed and friendly, there was more food than we could eat and plenty of water was available.

The sound system was clear and ccs were available on most films. The seats were a little hard but not unbearable and the cushion was just the right size. Blankets kept us warm when it was cold. I slept for an hour or two overnight and again on the day flight from Dubai airport to Barcelona. I included a photo of the starry night ceiling on the plane, because I liked it.

I remember we stopped in Dubai when we flew home for Rob and Sandra's Wedding. The airport gave away a new car each month to a lucky shopper.. as we were walking to our departure gate, I saw this month's car. :-) No photo, sorry! It's a huge airport with enormous shops and restaurants.

We have made it to our hotel. More, later.
Peace! J x

We spent four days on trains in Canada, travelling on a day service only between Jasper, Prince George, Prince Rupert and return.
Our service manager, Jean François, was helpful, thoughtful and competent. When our train stopped 1km from Prince George station, he organised a taxi to take us to our hotel nearby, when the food stocks were drawing low as a result of late arrivals, he cooked "smokies" with onions on a roll, when we were going to be stopped for over an hour, as a result of goods' trains activities on the line, he arranged for us to be able to alight from the train and take a walk. At all times he was friendly, anticipating issues and informing us of the current state of affairs. I am sorry I didn't think to take a photo of us with him.
Below are a few photos of views from the train journey.
Enjoy! J x

We were woken this morning by the Fire Alarm. A female voice shouted repeatedly "Fire! FIRE! FIRE!!!YOU MUST LEAVE NOW!" Although we anticipated it being a false alarm, we dressed to leave our room.
In one of the other rooms, toast had been burnt and triggered the alarm.
This day we drove to the Colombian Ice Fields, where the Athabasca Glacier, among others, is found. Pictured below are photos from our day's driving and walking. It is a stunning area.
