The Wanderers: Ticket To Fun Tours For over 30 years I have been wandering with my friends to amazing places. Invariably, I return filled with the wonder of this world. My sincere thanks,
G Drake

I would like to invite you to come join us on some of our grand adventures. - G Drake Dear Editor,

Several times a year I wander into an airport with like-minded friends, find an unoccupied seat, and depart for distant shores. It has been an ever lengthening succession of perfect moments comprised of remarkable experiences, beyond-beautiful scenes, a kaleidoscope of cultures, and limitless ethn

ic treasures. Our serendipitous sojourns have led to over 80 countries and many parts of the U.S. It is has been a very special travelogue, but often has the feel of briefly living amid the pages of a well-loved story book. Certainly, much of the magic comes from time and place, but every bit as important are the people who make up the group. It is their kindness, care, and concern for each other, their laughter and excitement, and their knowledge, humor, stories, and shared experiences that bind the group together and heighten the enjoyment of each day. Every time I wander I can be absolutely certain of one thing, I will travel with the very best people. Whether the destination is Washington D.C. or Tanzania, I will come home very grateful to those with whom I have shared the journey.

Greetings Fellow Wanderers,

We hope you are ready for an adventure of a lifetime, as we will be venturing off on a unique and inspiring Southeast Asia river cruise through Vietnam and Cambodia this fall. You’ll be immersed in the cultures and ancient traditions as you sightsee and mingle with locals in the most fascinating places along the mighty Mekong River.

We will spend time in bustling Ho Chi Minh City which combines historic architecture with modern skyscrapers. Here you can view the famous landmarks and try your hand in the kitchen—Vietnamese-style, with a cooking class. Also venture back in time with an excursion to the Cu Chi Tunnels, where you’ll have an opportunity to walk through a section of the immense underground tunnel system used extensively during the Vietnam War. Then embark on a river cruise along the Mekong River and be mesmerized by the local cultures with a visit to a colorful market, the home of a local family making handcrafted sampans, and a workshop to learn how rice wine and traditional candies are made.

In the capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh, we'll tour the National Museum and Royal Palace with its striking Silver Pagoda. On a hilltop at the site of the 8th-century temple of Wat Hanchey, we can take in the stunning views before walking through the rural village of Angkor Ban to visit with welcoming schoolchildren. Later hop onboard for an ox cart ride amongst rice paddy fields and witness the daily lives of farmers.

The grand finale of this memorable Southeast Asia river cruise vacation is a stay in Siem Reap, home to the phenomenal Temples of Angkor Wat with an intricacy and architectural grandeur unmatched in the world. See the splendor of the Bayon temple featuring some 200 mysterious faces carved in its many towers. Then enjoy an inspiring Aspara dance performance—a perfect ending to this remarkable and cultural journey!

This will be an epic adventure for those that join us. We will be spending 12 memorable nights in Vietnam and Cambodia, 7 of them on the luxury river boat sailing the Mekong river. We've had this trip put together for a while, and have been working hard to get the price as low as we could. This trip will rank very high on any world travelers list, as we will see and do things most people never even dream about. We have included flights, most meals, excursions, port charges and even gratuities, so all you have to do is sit back, and enjoy. We recently sent one of our friends, his family and employees on this trip, and they all came back raving how great it was, many thought it was their best trip ever.

There is limited spots on this trip as the river boat only carries 36 passengers. We currently have 10 spots filled on the ship, and from last count there were only 7 open cabins left, so if this is a trip you would be interested in, please let us know soon. We have only secured this price until April 2, (after that the price will likely go up by $1500 - $2000).

Greetings,
We hope your spring is now in full swing and you are enjoying every moment (or at least many of them ;) I love this time of year when nature is waking up from winter's hibernation. Here in Southern Utah the blossoms have sprouted & there are more creatures flying and scurrying about our backyard than I can count! We've had a few people ask about doing their own airfare for Costa Rica. If you have a more convenient airport you'd like to use, have accumulated airline miles or just prefer to do your own flight arrangements, that is great! We would just deduct the cost of flights, making the cost for the trip $1099. We would love to have any of you join us if interested and available. We now 100% agree with my dad, it truly is the people that make the trip and we know some of the best. Either way we hope you do what makes you happy and find the magic and miracles in each day.

Best Wishes,
Pete & Jess

“There are many things that I still do not know. I do know that there is wonder in this world. Despite the ugliness, sorrow, fear and everyday tragedies; there, are more highs than lows, more light than darkness and almost heart-stopping moments of beauty, exhilaration, and joy. I think most people are inherently good and despite the valleys -life is meant to be lived at higher elevations. Yeah, I believe in magic and everyday miracles. You simply have to move (wander) enough to find a good vantage point, and then recognize and feel what you are seeing and experiencing.” -Gene

France Cruise June 2017
TTF Tours presents: Sounds of Jazz from Burgundy and Provence
12 days from Cote d'Azur (Nice) to Paris

Opportunities abound on this delightful vacation: Our adventure begins on an overnight in the French Riviera. Then, we travel to Aries in the Provence Region to board our elegant, contemporary ship and begin your intimate cruise experience. We will sail into the peaceful Camargue area, and then Avignon, Viviers, medieveal Tournon, Tain l'Hermitage, Vienne, Lyon, St. Jean de Losne, and Beaune. We will then ride the rails on the TGV train from Dijon to Paris where you will enjoy 2 overnights, including guided sightseeing in the "City of Light".

Fellow "Wanderers”,
We are excited to share this great opportunity to travel with some amazing people, and have worked out a great price on an Avalon River Cruise traveling up through France. Starting with a hotel night on the Mediterranean coast of Cote d’Azur in southern France (Nice), we then spend 7 nights on the Avalon ship Affinity, followed by 2 nights in Paris.
What’s so great about this trip? First, we are saving $2000 per person off the listed price. Second, you get to travel with some awesome people and have a terrific time. There has been a lot of interest in this trip, and we were only able to hold a select number of spots. The price for Cruise & Land is $2,567 per person (This price includes port charges and prepaid gratuities for the ship, saving approximately $400). You can book your own flights or plan to travel as a group with us. We are currently working on finding the best group airfare and will let those interested know shortly. This price is for the “E” cabin which is the base cabin with a small outside window. Cabin upgrades are available, upgraded cabins are the same size but will be up one or two levels and have large windows. Cabin upgrades are based on double occupancy:
Category B- add $649 per person
Category A- add $699 per person
Category P- add $799 per person
Journey Club members save an additional 5% off core tour price.
Optional Travel Protection is offered through Avalon/Globus for $349.
We are also putting together an optional extension to the Normandy Beach area of France. Details will be forthcoming.
We’re looking forward to traveling with you and hope you’re able to join us on another one of Gene’s adventures!

TOUR OFFERS 2015

We are offering only a few tours in 2015, but I hope at least one of them works for you. Traveling with our group is just like another wonderful experience with extended family. I am glad to get materials in your hands and look forward to your feedback.

Norway – Iceland
Some tours create personal excitement from the moment you begin imagining them in your mind. This is one of those. I have wanted to visit Iceland for quite a while and Norway is one of my favorite countries to explore. The trip has been put together to allow us 2 full days to experience some of the best features of Iceland and then 9 days in beautiful Norway. It is a custom itinerary to enjoy the best scenic splendor of both areas. We will fly from Denver on Icelandair on Sept. 2 and return on Sept. 13. (12 days). The tour will fill quickly and I have already promised spots to a number of people, so please respond quickly if you wish to join us. Please read the fact sheet and itinerary to see all that is included. It will be pretty dang super!

Peru
We have made 6 trips to Peru during the years with emphasis on Machu Picchu, Cuzco, and the Sacred Valley. We have repeated the experience so many times because it is such an amazing area with wonderful ruins and so many cultural opportunities. Most of you have previously made the tour, but we have a few who have not been able to visit the area. I offered the tour but need to verify how many wish to participate to see if it is feasible. I love the hotels, upgraded train experience, meals, and activities and wanted to add one additional day in the Sacred Valley to enhance the trip. Direct airfare from the west coast has risen by almost $400.00 during the past 3 years and has made a 9 day deluxe tour a little more costly than anticipated. I need to know how many are really interested and if I should add some features (Lake Titicaca, the floating islands, the Nasca Lines, northern ruins etc.) to lengthen the tour or exactly what you would prefer. If you want to do this tour, please contact me so I know the extent of interest and exactly when to schedule it. Thanks (Currently is 9 days and it fits like a perfect glove.)

LDS Church History Tour & Niagara Falls
A good friend has been doing a church history tour for several years and has asked me to do the tour for him from Buffalo, N.Y. west beginning on June 13 and ending in Kansas City on June 20. It is a very good tour priced several hundred dollars less than comparable tours, but containing the same elements and of equal or better quality. We would visit all Church sites in the Palmyra, Kirtland, Nauvoo & Kansas City areas with numerous special activities and meals. If you are interested, please contact me and I will send you the itinerary and further details. If it is something that interests you, it would be a wonderful experience at a very good price.

Bali/Singapore or Bali/Thailand
One of my favorite island nations in all my travel opportunities is Bali in Indonesia. I love the culture that is constantly on display around every corner (i.e. weddings, funerals, market days, religious worship, parades and festivals etc., etc., etc.) Did I mention the picturesque rice terraces, beaches, and the magnificent wood carvings? I really love Bali, but it is off the main North America/Asia air routes and flights can be expensive. I am looking at doing a Bali/Singapore or Bali/Thailand tour if I can price it right. Bali rocks and Chang Mai is totally groovy!

I’m always conjuring up “dream trips” in my mind and here is one. If everyone really likes our 2015 Rhine River Cruise, a 2016 option might be a 3 night river cruise on the Danube, combined with possibly 2 nights in Vienna and or Prague with a night or 2 in Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic (one of my very favorite medieval cities in the world).

Many people have visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads. My head is often filled with magical itineraries and natural travel highs. This world is quite remarkable and there is so much to enjoy. Please let me know some of your travel dreams and fantasies and get signed up for an adventure this year. There is one unfilled stateroom on the entire ship for our Rhine River Cruise. If any latecomers wish to join us, please contact me immediately. (138 total people)

Thank you for being part of the best travel crew in the world. Thank you for making each sojourn wonderful. Thank you for everything.

Dear Wanderers,

I sincerely hope your holidays were good ones with an abundance of mistletoe, Currier & Ives’ visions, Christmas magic, gratitude, and joy. I hope you feel the love of family and friends, and are simply happy.

As the years pass, I am more strongly impressed with the need to better fill and feel each day. I am not much and probably never will be, but I am very grateful for the many good people who have impacted my life and brought me great happiness. One of my daughters gave me a sign over the holidays with this simple yet true sentiment:

The best things in life are…..
The people we Love,
The places we’ve been,
And the Memories we’ve made along the way.

I totally agree. Before our life journeys end, hopefully we can all visit a few more places, add to our very special memories, and love better - the people in our lives.

TRAVEL OPPORTUNITIES 2015:

I will be offering 4 travel opportunities in 2015 and I sincerely hope that you can join at least one of them. I am really super excited about the first two trip offerings and think each of you would love either or both.

The first is a 9 day Rhine River Cruise - Amsterdam to Basel, Switzerland:
I have done approximately 10 ocean cruises and 3 river cruises and the river cruises are what have captured me. Why? The intimate setting and serene ambience of the cruise is luxury set to a favorite, slow ballad. The ship, if completely full, will carry only 138 passengers. There is only one sitting at meals, the food is excellent, and Avalon has the very best ships on the rivers. Imagine lying on a top-quality hotel bed and gazing out the floor to ceiling glass wall at some of the most beautiful scenes in the world. (Our Rhine River cruise passes numerous hilltop castles, picturesque medieval villages and pastoral scenes await around every bend in the river.)

Along with all meals, soft drinks, beer, and wine are free and there are pastries and other delicacies always available. The staterooms are quite large and well appointed, and the lounge areas offer ultimate comfort and amazing views. Because the ships are small, they usually dock right in the middle of town and you can be in the old town and/or town center in just a few steps. Many large ocean liners have the feel of a small city, but these small ships are more like an extended family. Why now? You will never find better pricing. I have worked with the Avalon people for a long period of time and they are offering us special rates on this cruise. They want our business and have given us some additional discounts on this specific sailing. A deposit of $250.00 per person is required to secure the rates being offered us.

We will depart the U.S. on April 4 during the height of tulip/flower time in the Netherlands. (We may add an extension on the front or end of the cruise. We will see.) The ship only has 3 decks and they are each separated by only 5 or 6 steps. They all have the same square footage except for 4 suites which are larger.
The cost for the lowest deck – Indigo Deck Category E, which features two windows rather than the wall of glass, (Please see brochure) is $1901.00 per person inclusive. (Includes all port charges, taxes etc.) There are only 11 staterooms in this category. I would recommend Category B on the Sapphire Deck. This has the floor to ceiling glass wall which slides open and makes the cruise rather magical for me. The per person cost is $2335.00 and there are 12 staterooms. Category A on the Sapphire Deck is simply closer to the front of the ship (a few less steps) and is priced at $2377 pp. There are 18 staterooms in Category A. Category P is on the Royal Deck which is the highest stateroom deck. There are 24 Category P staterooms and the cost is $2469.00 per person. There are 4 Suites available and pricing is $3300.00 pp. Cost is for the cruise only and you can do your own air, or we will try to get the best possible pricing for you. Almost all off-ship excursions are included in the cost and the ambience and special little inclusions and personal touches are pretty special.
Category E – Lower Deck (2 windows) - $1901.00
Category B – Middle Deck (full glass wall/French Balcony - $2335.00
Category A - Middle Deck (full glass wall/French Balcony (more forward)-$2377.00
Category P – Top Stateroom Deck (full glass wall/French Balcony - $2469.00
Suites (4 Only) - $3300.00
Please mail a check made out to TTF Tours as soon as possible if you wish to join us as stateroom categories will fill. My correct phone number is 435 899 9936 if you have any questions.
(Please read the itinerary carefully.)
We will be making some great stops along this beautiful river. We will spend time at Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Cologne-Koblenz-Rudesheim-Mainz-Heidelberg-Breisach, the Black Forest in Germany, and Strasbourg in France. You may have visited some of these places, but we will be seeing them from a whole new vantage point. I would not recommend this cruise so highly if I didn’t feel strongly that each of you would enjoy it immensely, and the price is very, very good.
If you would like to join us, please fill out the registration card as soon as possible and return it with your deposit. Once a stateroom category is sold out our only option is to choose another category. The special pricing for our group alone ends September 30th! If you would like the insurance, please add that to your deposit. That is entirely up to you and your circumstances.

Our second offering, and one that I am equally excited about, is the best of Norway with (hopefully) a 3 day stopover in Iceland:
Norway is probably one of my 4 favorite countries on earth and the scenery of the western fjords is one of the world’s most beautiful tapestries. The tour is totally customized down to some specific hotels and included activities to show off the best of Norway. We are looking at 3 days in Iceland that will highlight the best of this amazing island nation. I will guarantee you that you will love every day that you spend on this wonderful adventure. We plan to depart around mid-September and the tour will probably be an 11 or 12 day dream trip.

Although many of you may have already experienced this next trip - Machu Picchu, Cuzco, and the Sacred Valley:
they are, in my humble opinion, a must see in your lifetime. There are still many who wish to go and so we will probably do a 9 day deluxe tour to this inspiring locale in late May/early June. (This will be our 3rd tour offering.)

A fourth sojourn may be a week visiting the ruins and enjoying the crystal clear waters of the Yucatan (Cancun/Playa del Carmen) in January or February or visiting delightful Puerto Vallarta with its relaxed atmosphere and Old Mexico feel. (Possibly in early June before the summer rush.):
Please let me know if either of these places appeal to you. I have probably been to Mexico close to 100 times, but it still calls out to me often.

The final choice would be a gala week in Branson, Missouri to kick off the Christmas season this year:
We are looking at departing November 8th and returning November 15th. (You don’t need to spend all 7 nights if you don’t wish to.) Many of the Christmas shows would have begun at this time. The cost would include: Round Trip Airfare and luggage costs, 7 nights in a first class condo (friends or family members could share a 3 bedroom condo with living room, kitchen, dining area etc., or couples could have a separate bedroom/bathroom.), rental car, 2 Day Pass to Silver Dollar City and 4 Branson Shows (your choice). I believe the total cost would be $799.00 per person with slightly lower rates if 4 people shared a car or children rates were involved for the shows. Please let me know if there is interest here. I think it is a good rate for a fun-packed week in Branson.

Please let me know about any interest in any of our other 2015 trip offerings.

Thank you,

Gene

Our Story

Several times a year I wander into an airport with like-minded friends, find an unoccupied seat, and depart for distant shores. Invariably, I return filled with the wonder of this world. It has been an ever lengthening succession of perfect moments comprised of remarkable experiences, beyond-beautiful scenes, a kaleidoscope of cultures, and limitless ethnic treasures. My sincere thanks, G Drake
