A huge thank you to the Disney Destinations Sales Team for inviting ET Family Travel to D23, the Ultimate Fan Event! While we loved the Expo, what we really can’t stop thinking about are all the exciting announcements made by Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro during the Parks Panel.

Here are just a few of our favorites announcements:

🚢 The Disney Cruise Line fleet is expanding, adding 4 new ships, bringing the total number of ships docked around the world to 13. Plus, new details about the Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny were revealed. (Ask us about HERCULES!)

🦸‍♂️ Two new Avengers rides will be coming to Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure.

🌊 Pandora arrives in Disney California Adventure with an all new attraction based on Avatar: The Way of Water and future films.

🔋 Monsters, Inc. will move into Disney’s Hollywood Studios (no comma?) and let humans inside the factory for the first time as Monstropolis will be under construction beginning 2025. A Monsters Inc. Door Coaster sounds like a dream come true putting you right into scenes from the movie.

♥️ We fell in love with Alaska’s first city, Ketchikan.

🎣 This charming town is also known as the salmon capital of the world! As you can see in the photo above, the salmon were everywhere!

🦀 We got off the ship and explored on our own. There were tons of shops and restaurants to choose from. We opted to eat at Annabelle’s which was recommended to us by a local resident. Everyone loved their meal and service. Bonus- we got to watch USA win basketball 🏀!

🪓 In the afternoon, we attended a Disney Cruise Line exclusive Lumberjack Show. The show was interactive, entertaining, and good old fashion fun! It is a must do if you are ever visiting Ketchikan!

💓 We were sad to board the ship at the end of the day, knowing this was our last stop in Alaska, but we were all beyond grateful for this absolute incredible experience.

✍️ Dinner was at Animator’s Palate again but this time, our animations were brought to life. Disney Cruise Line does an amazing job changing up experiences when dining in the same location more than once. The kids (and adults) loved watching their drawings dance on screen with their favorite characters.

🎤 We ended the night with family karaoke and dueling pianos. We have become staples at these venues and are now regulars to the staff. No matter where you go, the cast members on Disney Cruise Line make you feel welcome and special. The service can’t be beat.

The adventures continued on day five of our Alaska journey!

We docked in Juneau and the group dispersed, trying a variety of excursions provided by Disney Cruise Line. Our activities included:

🛷 Sled Dog Discovery and Musher’s Camp
🥾 Mendenhall Glacier Explorer
🚣🏼‍♀️ Mendenhall Glacier Float Trip
🚁 Dog Sledding on the Mendenhall Glacier
🌲 Alpine Zipline Adventure

What we have learned about Alaska is, there is something everyone and that something is going to be amazing! You can do as much or as little as you’d like and you will still be blown away!

If Alaska isn’t on your bucket list… add it! You won’t regret it.

Just when you think the trip can’t get any better… day four happens!

We docked in Icy Strait Point and officially stepped foot in Alaska!

Our first excursion of the day was a whale and marine mammal cruise. Some wondered if it would be worth it, as we were seeing whales left and right off our verandahs and various decks of the ship. Please reference photo 3… it was WELL worth it!! Not only was the weather PERFECT, we had a group of about 8 Humpback whales putting on quite the show for us, including two up close breaches!! There was also a bear & bald eagle spotting!

We went back to the ship for some lunch and rest before our next excursion which was taking a ride on the “World’s Largest Zipline”! Well, some of us took a ride… someone had to hold the jackets and take pictures 🙋🏼‍♀️. It was a short walk from the ship to the first gondola which brought us to the “departure den”. There we were faced with the red gondola which brought you to the tippy top of the mountain. Exhilarating for some & terrifying for others. Either way, the view was stunning. Our group of 18 zipped down the mountain in groups of six, all with huge grins on their faces. What an epic day!

It was back to the ship for dinner at Tiana’s Place. The food & entertainment were fabulous. Tiana and Louis made appearances and sang + danced with the guests. We finished the meal with a delicious baked Alaska.

We had to be up early for day 5 but we couldn’t resist a quick visit to Will providing popular tunes at a sing along at the piano bar.

We can’t wait to see what day 5 brings!

🏔️ What we experienced on day 3 - Glacier Viewing (Stikine Icecap) will be difficult to describe with pictures and words, but we will try.

📸 The morning began by taking family photos with our favorite Disney characters dressed in their adorable Alaska gear! Something you can only experience while sailing on a Disney Cruise to Alaska on glacier day!

🧇 We enjoyed breakfast at Cabanas and were extremely delighted to see that they were serving the delicious churro Mickey waffles!! A must try!

🧊 Next, we layered up and got ready for our excursion: Glacier Explorer. We boarded the Alaskan made expedition vessel right from our ship. We enjoyed beautiful scenery through icebergs and dramatic fjords. The journey brought us up close to one of Stikine Icefields prominent glaciers. The experience was breathtaking and one of those real *pinch me* moments! Everywhere you looked, you couldn’t help but say “wow”!

❄️ When we returned to the ship, it was time to prepare for Frozen night! People dressed up as much or as little as they liked. The deck party included our Frozen friends engaging the crowd with interactive games, singing, dancing and even a snowstorm. It was ❄️ snow ❄️ much fun!

🍽️ Dinner was at Animator’s Palette again but with a frozen themed experience! The menu and decor completely changed!

🎹 After dinner, it was bedtime for some but for others, we couldn’t resist Alaska’s exclusive experience of dueling pianos. We danced, we sang, and we laughed. We can’t wait to do this again on Ketchikan night.

🤩 We aren’t sure how anything will top the day we had… but we are here for it. What an incredible adventure this has been so far.

🥶 The weather changed quickly on our second day at sea! Luckily we were prepared with LOTS of layers!

🐋 Our travel party took advantage of everything the Disney Wonder had to offer! The morning started with room service delivered to our room (complimentary) so we could spot some dolphins and whales while we sipped our coffee (and hot cocoa).

🍽️ Next up, several of us enjoyed an adult-exclusive brunch at Palo. This dining experience is an additional cost, but well worth it in our opinion! Other adults relaxed and enjoyed the Senses Spa.

📸 Throughout the day we met several characters and put our photo package to good use! The list of character meet and greets is posted daily in your Disney Cruise Line app and the variety is extensive!

🍹 Next up, a few of us participated in another adult-only activity, Mixology. The drinking seminar teaches you how to make a variety of cocktails while tasting them and having fun!

🎤 You are probably wondering where the children were while we enjoyed some adult time? With a wide range of ages, our group of kids were enjoying the different kid clubs, swimming in the pools, warming up in the family hot tubs, singing in family karaoke, participating in origami class or playing hide-and-seek around the ship. If you spotted them, you saw HUGE smiles on their faces and got a quick wave.

🎭 We reunited when it was time for the performance of The Golden Mickeys in the Walt Disney Theatre. The show was fabulous, incorporating many Disney classics.

🎨 After the show we went to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Animator’s Palate. The food was delicious and the meal ended with a surprise visitor!

🎹 For some, the night ended there, as we do have the later dining rotation. But for some, the fun was just getting started! For the older crowd, Deadpool & Wolverine had an exclusive showing in the Walt Disney Theatre (parental supervision & permission was needed). Others opted for a piano bar singalong!

🚢 Is there a better way of traveling to your bucket list destination than having an action packed day of fun? We think not!

Day one of our Alaskan adventure was a success! 🎉

We all stayed in various hotels throughout Vancouver and were truly taken back by the beautiful city. The port was easy to get to and very well managed. 🏙️

Our large, multigenerational group which consists of friends and family, boarded the Disney Wonder with excitement. For some in our party, they have now experienced ALL of the Disney ships! 🚢

The kids played and felt at home while the adults settled in and took in the details of the Wonder. 🧳

The sailing has been super calm and the scenery has been breathtaking- seeing land on both sides at all times! 🏔️

We have another day at sea today as we make our way to Alaska! We can’t wait to continue sharing our journey! 📸
