Weather has been great the last few days so we have been able to get out and do some activities. We still have availability if you would like to come join us.

This couple came mostly to wildlife view but wanted to try a bit of fishing. They were thrilled with their catch - and saw a sow and cub on the beach from the boat. It was a perfect day.

There are little snowshoe hares everywhere. This one is about the size of my hand and hanging near our porch.

And finally the berries are ripe and being utilized: strawberry scones and Salmonberry pie in a cup.

Fishing and wildlife viewing isn’t all we do - picnicking and beach combing are great adventures too! Today’s finds range from what you would expect (shells and rocks) to the once in a lifetime find . . . like a message in a bottle!

He was thrilled to catch a king salmon; “It makes up for the one I lost thirty-some years ago”.

Also, a starfish that was “new” to us as we don’t have this kind on our beach.

Many may have heard about the 7.4 earthquake in Sand Point last night. We received a tsunami warning and woke up the guests to let them know. We waited less than an hour and it was no longer in effect so we all went back to bed - some of us more successfully than others.

A better morning for flying and the guys made it out today. However, with the plane on the running linem, our skiff went dry. Never a dull moment!!

Thankful everything works out in the end.

We waved goodbye - and then they returned because fog prevented them from getting to town, so we will do it all over again tomorrow. Bummer but they rescheduled and are hoping the weather improves.

What a day! Our fishermen had a great day on the water and caught the first ling cod of the season. I had a cute little visitor in the backyard near the garden and the day ended with a beautiful rainbow.

I was on the phone talking to my dad and looked out the window to see whale! I promptly hung up (called back later) and raced down to see them. I counted three right next to the dock . . . like the wind blew the spray from one on me!

This one pushed its way out into the world. Welcome!

The guys candled the eggs when I was gone and found several weren’t fertile. We are down to 23 fertile eggs. We candled the eggs again today for the last time. This one was the only really active chick that didn’t fill up the entire egg. They should hatch sometime this weekend.

We candles the eggs today. About a quarter were definitely not fertile; however, one (egg 17!) had both a heartbeat and was moving. Look close at the video! Looking forward to candling again on the 18th.
