I want to remind you today of your incredible strength and resilience. As a mompreneur, I’ve learned that the road to success is not always easy, but it’s always worth it. Juggling responsibilities, nurturing a family, and pursuing your dreams is no small feat, but trust me—you can do it.
Believe it or not, Single parenthood propelled me to found businesses that empower others. this is definitely the case for Single Parents Who Travel, a community that specializes in supporting single parents to discover the world with their kids and with other families in the community. With close to 15,000 members around the globe, we’ve successfully traveled as a group for 6 years and have visited incredible beaches and cities in the Caribbean, North America, and Africa! Now, we are super excited about our upcoming trip to South Africa in 2025!
Along with Single Parents Who Travel I have owned and operated Motivated Mamas, a lifestyle and executive coaching company, along with Manifest Greatness Media, a boutique public relations and marketing company, for more than a decade. I’m blessed to have some pretty terrific clients in both spaces.

As a mother of a growing boy and a working mom, I can’t explain just how much I look forward to going on trips with my son. 💖
Traveling alone with my son deepened our bond in ways I never imagined. I made sure that he was involved in every planning and every activity we would do throughout every trip.
I listened to him.
I let him do research and discover exciting things about the places we will visit.
And it’s so rewarding to see his face sparkle every time almost all our plans happen. 🌟

In the beautiful chaos of raising our children, I’ve realized one thing that we, parents, often forget one crucial thing—OURSELVES.
Taking a break isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity.
It’s okay to pause, to breathe, and to remind yourself that you also deserve to feel loved. Imagine the joy of a spa day, where your only task is to relax and let the world melt away. Picture yourself exploring a new destination, feeling rejuvenated by new experiences and perspectives. Or maybe it’s simply buying that dress you’ve been eyeing, and feeling amazing in it, just because you deserve to feel good.
When I take the time to recharge, I return to my family with more energy, more love, and a greater sense of fulfillment. I’m not just doing this for myself; I’m doing it for them too. A happy, rested, and fulfilled mom is the best gift I can give my children.
I’m embracing self-love because I am worth every bit of it and so are you. Cheers! 🥂

Tomika Anderson Greene, founder of Single Parents Who Travel, weighs in on the debate over step-parenting relative to the presumptive Democratic vice-presidential nominee Kamala Harris in The Washington Post Magazine, considering her own status as both a biological mom as well as a stepmom. Here’s what she had to say in the article:
“To Tomika Anderson Greene, who lives in Virginia with a blended family that includes her biological son and four stepchildren, the idea of dismissing a stepparent is ironic because their caregiving demands particular courage and commitment. To become an adoptive parent or stepparent, she says, “is to step into a role that, in a lot of ways, is harder than the biological one. You’re starting at a place where the child is, not where they began, and you’re building a relationship with them from that place. You are challenged to shift and change and grow.”
Greene’s four stepchildren are adults, “but that applies to me, too,” she says. “We do family dinners; we start traditions we didn’t have before. It is a lot of good work.”Like Harris and Blackstone, Greene generally avoids the term stepchildren: “I refer to them as my kids, or my bonus kids. And I’ve allowed those kids to define what my relationship is to them and followed their lead.” When she saw the recent criticism of Harris, Greene says she felt a deep sense of recognition — and fury.
“This would not be levied at her if she was a man. It wouldn’t even be a point of consideration,” she says. “This smoke and mirrors and gaslighting that we’re seeing is par for the course when you’re a Black woman. I would laugh in the face of someone who dared to try to tell me what a real parent is and what it is not.”
Then she pauses, and does start to laugh. “I am excited to hopefully watch her just brush that right off and keep her focus,” she says. “Those are her kids. End of story.”
The vice president is stepmother to two children, but that hasn’t stopped her opponents from suggesting she isn’t a real parent.
