Starting January 8, travelers to the United Kingdom from non-European countries, including the United States and Canada, will need to comply with a new requirement as the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system is introduced.
Whether you are transiting through a UK airport or planning a stay of up to six months for purposes such as tourism, family visits, business meetings, conferences, or study abroad, you must complete an online application (https://apply-for-an-eta.homeoffice.gov.uk/.../how-to-apply) and pay a £10 fee (approximately $12.75). Before boarding your flight, gate agents will verify your ETA status, which is digitally linked to your passport.
According to the Home Office, the system is designed to streamline the process and enhance security, utilizing biometric technology commonly employed in the travel industry.
Although applications may be approved within a few hours, it is recommended to allow at least three days for processing. Why wait? Applications are already being accepted.
Once issued, an ETA remains valid for two years or until the traveler’s passport expires, whichever comes first.
On April 2, the ETA requirement will extend to EU nationals. The only exemptions will be for UK and Irish citizens and individuals holding valid UK visas.

I’ve been eating food that comforts me lately - I know I am not alone.
As a native Italian I've had a love affair with pasta since...I can't remember.
There is something artistic about it. Pasta is like a canvas for highlighting an incredible variety of flavors and textures. It comes in many shapes and types: long or short, flat or stuffed, fresh or dried. There are also many ways of preparing it, from the very simple - like Aglio e olio (garlic and olive oil) - to the impressively sophisticated. My suggestion: buy the very best pasta, as it will make all the difference to the final flavor and texture of the dish.
