Golden hour in the Okavango Delta...
One of my personal favourite safari destinations.
The high density of wildlife, the saturated sunrises and sunsets (due to dust and or smoke particles in the atmosphere) and the low density of visitors are just a few of the things I love about it.

The diversity of landscapes > habitats > ecosystems in South Africa is marvelous! As you travel through them the communities and inhabitants change, sometimes gradually, sometimes abruptly. We think of our land in terms of cities and provinces... man-made lines on a paper map.

A Pied Kingfisher.
When I was a kid, I was told by someone the way to remember the difference between male and female is that the female is wearing a bra, therefore only one black stripe. The male is wearing a belt and those old school under arm gun holsters, therefore 2 black stripes...
Although I think those were last used in the 1920's, Johnny Brasco style, I always remembered that and can't look at a Pied Kingfisher without thinking about it...
Amazing what stays with you from your childhood.
Also a reminder to be mindful of what you say to kids...
It may stay with them for the rest of their lives.

No fences, no lodges, no problem!
To really immerse yourself in the wild, it's better to stay in it, on the ground, with as little separating you from it as possible. Wild catered camping is the way to go, all the necessities, very comfortable great food, cold drinks but no walls, no walkways, no busy restaurants... just your little camp surrounded by the wildlife you came to see 💫
