As a 2nd year students of Lyceum of the Philippines University โ Laguna , We had the opportunity to create our own tour package from scratch. The experience was challenging and rewarding, as it allowed us to use the knowledge and skills we have learned in Tour Operations & Management with the guidance of Dr. July Ace Barcenas.
The very first step in the process of making our Tour Package is making our own company from the name, tagline, logo and company description, putting all of our attention to every little detail to make it creative and catchy. Choosing our location and target market involves numerous research on popular destinations in the Philippines, choosing potential attractions and activities by considering the needs and wants of our target market. Itinerary making and costing is the most important part of our tour package, we have to calculate the expenses from transportations, accommodation, meals, up to the other fees. We have to take into consideration the different costs depending on the season and market trends. For our marketing strategies a creative and informative brochure and posters are made to present and market our tour package and each one of us are given the chance to present our individual calling cards to attract our potential client.
The overall experience from planning, making, designing, costing, and preparing for the presentation was a valuable experience as it gave us the opportunity to learn and improve our skills. The knowledge and skills we learned here in Tour Operations & Management has prepared us to have a successful career in the tourism industry.
