If you are on any of the pages for Celebrity Cruise Lines one debate that you will definitely read about is whether people love or hate the new Infinite Verandas on the Edge Series ships. My wife and I have sailed on the APEX and BEYOND and just like everything in life there are pros and cons.

One of the things you notice right away how much larger the stateroom feels as it is 23% larger than a Solstice class stateroom. The new design provides an additional 42 square feet of living space in the veranda area for a total of 243 square feet for the stateroom. Personally, we love an Aft cabin, but you have to book those very far in advance, the cost is much higher, and it is a long walk to the elevators, again pros and cons.

We really enjoy the extra space of the Infinite Veranda and also the floor to ceiling view that the window provides and with no curtains. The curtain is contained in the window unit and one of the best features is that it makes the room dark when it is down with no splits for the sun to enter the room. We usually keep our curtain down during the day to keep the room cool. You can control the lighting, curtains, and television right from the Celebrity app on your smartphone and use the complimentary Celebrity Wifi. One con is that when the window is open the air conditioning turns off, which can be good or bad depending on your cruise itinerary. We have been on Edge class ship with different itineraries (Europe / Caribbean) and when we take everything into consideration, we give the Infinite Veranda a thumbs up!

We visited the Black Forest while we were cruising down the Rhine River on a Viking Riverboat on our way to Basel, Switzerland. This stop was part of the free excursion offered by Viking at each port, but it was really more of a shopping event for some versus a visit into the Black Forest. Unfortunately, we had a rather wet and soggy visit to the Hofgut Sternen Black Forest Village, but we made the best of it by turning our visit into a beautiful albeit wet hike along the beautiful Ravenna River. The hike consumed almost all of our time at this stop which had shops full of cuckoo clocks, with a demonstration of how they were made, and also glassware. There was also a bakery where they made the famous Black Forest cake, but by the time we got back they had all been consumed or purchased. It’s always tough to be an international tourist and go shopping knowing that you have to carry it for the rest of the trip and then all the way home. We will probably visit the Black Forest again on a land trip and spend some time in the villages, but for now our hike along the Ravenna River must do. Keep traveling and exploring and don’t forget to Like, Comment, and Subscribe to the Port of Indecision.

Patti and I sailed on the Celebrity Beyond in November 2024 as we cruised Grand Cayman and the A, B, C islands with Captain Leo and Cruise Director Alejandro. We had a wonderful time as we loved the new ship, crew, food, and ports of call. On our final sea day, we had the opportunity to attend a presentation with Captain Leo. He is a very personal, humorous, and informative captain who does not take himself too seriously, but his professionalism and friendliness give you such a welcome feeling of being part of the Celebrity family.

Captain Leo covers the beginning of Celebrity Cruise Lines, his background and experience, the planning of cruise itineraries, an overview of the Celebrity Beyond and how it is handled. Captain Leo explains the Parabolic Bow, Azipods, Stabilizers, Bow Thrusters, and the Bubble Making Machine. The main question Captain Leo covers, “Is the Captain always on the bridge driving the ship?” I hope you enjoy this informative presentation from Captain Leo. Don’t forget to give the video a thumbs up, leave your comment, and SUBSCRIBE to the PORT OF INDECISION.
