On atour to Maine today and of course stopped by Nubble Lighthouse in the town of York. It is also called Cape Neddick Light. It is 41 feet high and has a range of 15 miles. It was built in 1879 , it has a 4th order Fresnil Lens and was automated in 1987.
It is the most photographed Lighthouse in the US and the Voyager Spacecraft has a picture of it, The Taj Mahal and The Great Wall of China on it, should it be discovered by intelligent aliens.
A very cool thing.
