Two months ago , my brother, Bob was diagnosed with a rare form of central nervous system cancer an aggressive brain cancer with the side effect. There are treatments but they are costly and debilitating. Currently he is undergoing 3 different chemo treatments and is required to spend a minimum of 7 days in the hospital every other week. A Hero Needs Help

Robert Abell has an extensive history of putting the needs of others before himself. After graduating high school Bob immediately joined the armed forces to serve his country. Enlisting first in the Army National Guard he would later transition to the Army Reserves and then on to the Navy as a full time sailor. After the birth of his first child he would once again transfer, this time back to the Army Reserves in order to spend more time with his daughter. In total he would serve his country in the military for 13 years of his life in both an active duty and a reservist capacity.
Having moved back to the St. Louis area to be near his family Bob would again put the needs of others before his own by attending the Fire Academy and joining joining the
St. Louis City Fire Department. While working for the Fire Department Bob would use his diving skills to become a Rescue Diver, often going into dangerous waterways like the Mississippi River to help others. Perhaps his proudest moments as a Rescue Diver with the STLFD were during the flood of '93 where he used these sk
