A Guide to All 50 States' COVID-19 Travel Restrictions

Travel and Leisure

This article was published on 2/18/21, as always keep checking each state's requirements because we all know how fast things can change!

The coronavirus pandemic continues to have a major impact not only traveling abroad, but on domestic travel as well and many states have taken precautions to prevent its spread within local communities.

But while all international travelers returning to the U.S. must get tested before boarding a flight, domestic restrictions are still done on a state-by-state basis.

Below is a state-by-state breakdown of what travelers need to know about quarantine rules and travel restrictions if they're planning a trip. For the number of coronavirus cases in each state and local protocols, please see their official state or health department websites listed for the most updated information.

Updated: The latest Caribbean travel protocols for U.S. visitors and map

FEBRUARY 21, 2021
Most Caribbean islands have reopened to international tourism, with protocols in place to protect visitors and residents against Covid-19.

Starting Jan. 26, all international passengers flying into the U.S. from the Caribbean will need to provide proof of a negative Covid-19 test received no more than 72 hours prior to boarding the flight to the U.S. Airlines will deny boarding to those passengers who do not produce a test result. Since the rule was announced many hotels in the Caribbean region have stepped up to offer their guests pre-travel testing; see our report.

In addition, the CDC recommends that travelers get tested again three to five days after arrival and stay home for seven days after travel.
