Tonight was an amazing night to visit the Route 66 Christmas Chute in Sapulpa, OK.
We loved walking and talking as we gazed at the lights and decorations throughout this Hallmark Christmas Town.
If youâre anywhere near the area, make sure to check it out!! There are plenty of shops & restaurants. We opted for some hot chocolate & hot apple cider. These warm drinks paired nicely with our brisk evening walk.

Part 1. A few weeks back, we took a mini road trip to one of Oklahomaâs most scenic destinations - The Wichita Mountains at Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge.
Our friends graciously invited us to join them on their family adventure so we joyously accepted!
No matter which area you decide to hike, the views are stunning.
This is a hiking journey for all ages. Much of the hike was accessible for little feet but some of the more steeper climbs required the little ones to take a more appropriate route.
Plan to give yourself atleast a day or two to explore this beautiful area. If youâre just passing through, make sure you look out for all the wildlife roaming around. We saw plenty of Bison, Longhorn Cattle, Elk, etc.

Happy Birthday to our big guy!! Today is his 1ď¸âŁ2ď¸âŁth birthday!! His favorite destination so far is the Badlands of South Dakota. He would choose the mountains over the beach but he does love swimming. đââď¸
His top bucketlist destinations are Hawaii & Big Ben in London.
He decided instead of gifts, he wanted to plan for a stay in a âHobbit Holeâ (like from Lord of the Rings). So, thatâs something heâs really looking forward to very soon!

Wild Burros, long horned sheep, pronghorn antelope, bison & an abandoned town?
These are all the things we found on our adventure through and right outside of Custer State Park. đ
Our scenic drive through the park was plentiful with abundant wildlife viewing & an up and close encounter with a friendly wild b***o duo. These two really stole our hearts.
We ran into the Bison Center & loved learning how this specific center breeds and distributes bison to various places around the US to try and grow the bison population.
As we began to enter the Badlands, we drove by what seemed to be a ghost town. We like our adventuring to have a little bit of mystery so we decided to park our car alongside an idle road and ventured up to creaky wooden buildings and wondered what this town mustâve been like during its prime. Scenic, South Dakota is about a 20 minute drive from the Badlands.

While we love a good road trip game plan, part of the fun of traveling on the road is stopping off and finding unexpected places to visit!
We were thrilled to find out about The World Fossil Finder Museum.
As luck would have it, we ran into one of the museum owners at a gift shop in downtown Custer, who told us we just had to make the trip to Hot Springs to see their museum. They hold the largest Tylosaurus found in South Dakota, among many other discoveries.
After a short 40 minute drive from Custer to Hot Springs we were ready to check out this awesome spot.
Upon entering, we were instantly immersed within a substantial display of REAL fossils. Only a couple pieces within the museum were replicas or made of cast, the rest are genuine specimens.
As our family toured the museum, the best part was getting to hear the real life stories of how these fossils came to be unearthed by the finder himself, Frank Garcia.
Our boys were fully focused on every word that he had to say. After our tour was finished, Frank gifted the boys with autographed postcards and actual authentic fossils as a gift to send us back on our travels.
If youâre a local in the area or a traveler passing through, be sure and stop in for a visit at the World Fossil Finder Museum. This non-profit is an educational experience anyone will enjoy.

Within the city of Hot Springs, SD you can tour an indoor active dig site and view Ice Age fossils.
In June 1974, this site became what is now known as The Mammoth Site of Hot Springs, South Dakota after a bulldozer exposed the first 7 foot long tusk, found cut in half.
Initially, at first glance - the number of bones found would seem to belong to at least four to six mammoths. After giving it a much closure look, the excavation proved to uncover an unprecedented amount of specimens.
This site, has the largest concentration of mammoth remains in the World. The current count is 61 mammoths.
This non profit facility has a museum (which was being remodeled during our visit), a large gift shop, hands on learning programs, and a self guided tour overlooking the bone-bed. We definitely recommend this experience for anyone, especially those with a fascination for paleontology!

We arrived in Custer and would stay in the town for a couple days. Our first stop after unloading our luggage at our cabin was Wind Cave National Park!
This is where we were beyond excited to see our first share of Bison or Buffalo (however youâd like to call them) sightings! Although we never really saw any of the herds, we loved seeing the lone males roaming around the Park.
Our boys came to learn that the Lakota Indians had another name for these majestic creatures - âtatankaâ. đŚŹ
One of them found a favorable spot on the pavement of the parking lot and continued to lick at it for quite some time. We never could figure out what it was. Thankfully, this made for a great distraction as our boys loved snapping a photo with it from the safety of our car.
Once we made it to the Visitor Center, we purchased timed tickets to tour the Wind Cave! Americaâs very first National Park of its kind. Wind Cave National Park was established as the first cave National Park on January 9th, 1903 by President Theodore Roosevelt.

Custer State Park was on our list of places to visit, mainly because we knew Needles Highway ran directly through the park.
It wasnât until we arrived that we realized one of our favorite spots in SD would be this glorious place called Sylvan Lake. All thanks to a spectacular recommendation from our friends at Black Forest Inn Bed & Breakfast.
When we arrived, every one of us were astounded by all that enclosed around us. Towering cliffs and water like mirror glass made clouds float on still water. Diverse areas kept us engaged and eager to see what would keep us waiting around the corner.
Although leaving this location proved to be difficult, we knew we needed to race against the night and get to our car so we could enjoy the sunset drive through Needles Highway.
We promise you this, if you want to find somewhere worthwhile to visit in South Dakota. This is the place.

A quick hop over from Deadwood to Lead, SD led us to the Homestake Gold Mine.
Open from 1876 until 2002. It was the largest and deepest gold mine at the time in North America.
Today, it is open for visitors to view at a distance.
We toured the Sanford Lab Homestake visitors center which had a great variety of souvenirs and informative displays about the exploration of the mine.
Our boys loved walking into the mineshaft exhibit located within the visitors center. It had an interactive display for them to watch, giving them a realistic understanding of how it would feel to work within a gold mine.
We were not able to visit the Blackhills Mining Museum on our quick pit stop but heard it is worth visiting!

Old Historical towns are always so intriguing to us.
We passed through and visited the beautiful town of Deadwood, SD one early morning/mid afternoon.
Our visit came during the start of their off season. Despite most of the storefronts being closed on Main Street, we were happily content with some sightseeing and eventually hopped on the trolley!
After our trolley ride, we drove up to the highly recommended Mount Moriah Cemetery. The cemetery has a stunning overlook upon the town. We made our way back down the hill and found the Adams House. Unfortunately, we did not have time to tour either of these historical sites.

Calling all sci-fi enthusiasts! A brand new âGalactic Transport Vesselâ is ready and equipped to have visitors come and stay awhile!
During our stay at the Cabin on a Waterfall located in Colcord, OK at A Million Dreams Cabins at Flint Creek, we could see this super cool âspaceshipâ at a distance from our cabin!
We ventured off to take a closer look and were amazed at how intricate the design of this vessel seemed to be. There were lots of unique elements that made this an awesome place to visit. We didnât stay overnight in this cabin but were able to take a peek inside.
Included on the property is a scavenger hunt designed for the ship. Our boys were able to complete the hunt and they absolutely loved it. There were various clues carefully and skillfully hidden around the land.
At the end, they were rewarded a specially made prize to guests who finish the scavenger hunt.
This would be a perfect âexperience giftâ for any kiddo, small family, friend or couples getaway.

We started out our family road trip with the ultimate goal being to cross off our bucketlist & visit Mount Rushmore!
Weâre happy to say we were able to do just that. đ
When we arrived, we had just enough time to see the Memorial in its full glory during the day time. There was a wonderful walking trail, easily accessible for most. The trail weaved around large rocks and presented plenty of unique views of the Presidents.
After our quick hike, we visited the souvenir shop, ate some ice cream, made our way down the steps, watched an informative video about the history of Mount Rushmore and spent some time walking throughout the museum.
Not long after, we enjoyed some solitude on the steps of the amphitheater, observed and lingered until the faces lit up after dark.
We can see why this is such a popular destination for any tourist. Our boys were able to learn and enjoy another part of American history.
If you plan to visit Mount Rushmore National Memorial, budget yourself some time to see all that the park has to offer. Our family was able to visit and explore a lot of the park within 4 hours.

The Historic Train Garden is a captivating attraction and hidden gem within the New Orleans Botanical Garden. It takes visitors on a nostalgic journey through the city's rich railway history. This meticulously crafted miniature train village is a delight for both young and old. We were very impressed. We enjoyed looking at the multiple areas of the garden and talking with the staff who maintains the train garden and keeps them running smoothly. He taught us about the layout of the train garden and how it is a small scale replica of the whole city. The walking pathways are the rivers. Although we have visited Eureka Springs, AR multiple times now, we finally met one of their working bunnies at East by West - a retail shop located within the downtown strip! They have a great variety of products in the store. Most of theâworking bunniesâ are rescued from Arkansas Pet Rabbit Network. Their work is handing out change, receipts, stickers, etc. In exchange for their hard work, they love all the extra pets from paying customers! Itâs a fun/unique shopping experience you must see in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. #EurekaSprings #EurekaSpringsArkansas #EurekaSpringsAR #ESArkansas #ESAR #VisitEurekaSprings #EurekaSpringsVacation #EurekaSpringsGetaway #EurekaSpringsAdventure #workingbunnies #EurekaSpringsbunnies #shopping #EurekaSpringsTourism #EurekaSpringsAttractions #bunnies#rabbits#EurekaSpringsShopping #rabbit #EurekaSpringsCulture #bunny #travel #explore #adventure #fun #familyfun #family #holiday #shopping #unique #quaint Downtown Eureka Springs Eureka Springs Chamber of Commerce Eureka Springs, Arkansas Eureka Springs Working Bunnies
