The Alpacas are native to the Peruvian Andes, where they have been domesticated since the time of the pre-Inca cultures. There is an estimated 3.5 to 4 million Alpacas in South America; 95% of these are mainly found in the southern regions of Peru.

THE CCK formerly known as Centro Cultural Kirchner, is one of the largest cultural centres in the world. This spectacular building used to be the post office in Buenos Aires, the original building was modelled on New York city’s main post office. The construction took 30 years, and it was finished in 1928. Former President Nestor Kirchner proposed to turn the abandoned building into a cultural centre. He died before the project was completed and it was named in his honour.

The building takes up an entire block, there are multiple art galleries and event spaces. One of the highlights is the Ballena Azul or Blue Whale– a concert hall with world-class acoustics. Evita Peron had her own office here in the 1940s which is now in the Salon de Eva Peron.

If you are visiting Buenos Aires, make sure you visit this centre, the entrance is free of charge though you need to book in advance (I can help you with those arrangements)

Celebrating ’s anniversary today!
On 15th August 1540, Arequipa was founded by Garci Manuel de Carbajal. This beautiful city is located at 2,325 meters above sea level and is known as the ‘White City’ because it is virtually built out of sillar – white volcanic stone.
Today thousands of Arequipeños and visitors will gather in the main square to enjoy a variety of festive events.

Mashpi Lodge is a jungle lodge where contemporary design moves in harmony with nature. It is the ideal place to find more than 500 species of birds, trees and frogs that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world.

This unique lodge is located 3 hours north-west of Quito in a protected reserve. There are 19 rooms, all of them designed with floor to ceiling windows, tastefully furnished with private facilities. Electric buggies are used as a form of transport, as well as an aerial tram for guests to view the rainforest.

Mashpi Lodge makes for a true cocoon of luxury in the middle of the forest.

Frida Kahlo is considered one of Mexico's greatest artists, she's best known for her coloured self-portraits which she painted after she was severely injured in a bus accident.

Kahlo later became politically active and married fellow communist artist Diego Rivera in 1929. She exhibited her paintings in Paris and Mexico before her death on 13 July 1954.

Throwback Thursday

This was one of my favourite trips following my team to the World Cup in Russia 2018.
In the background the famous Red Square, one of the oldest and largest squares in Moscow and is regarded as one of the most famous squares in Europe.

Peru had to wait 36 years to qualify for this tournament, so once we qualified thousands of us flew to Moscow to support our national team. So I travelled with a friend who also lives in London, we purchased our tickets, booked our flights, got our Fans-ID cards and when we arrived to Moscow airport we realised we didn’t bring our footie tickets with us (sad face) and what can we do when a plan goes horribly wrong? 𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰?
The first German and Austrian settlement in Peru is located in the central jungle - a place called Pozuzo.
In 1859 a group of German and Austrian settlers sailed the Atlantic as they were looking to escape poverty. Two years later 156 of these settlers reached the jungle, they built their houses and church there.

Nowadays Pozuzo is home to around 8,000 people, many of them descendants of the first German and Austrian settlers, it still preserves its German architecture.

𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲

This picture was taken exactly 5 years ago, I decided to take a completely different route to the famous Inca Trail in Cusco. I know Machu Picchu’s is on many people’s bucket list and there are various ways of getting there, one of the most popular ones is to trek for 4 days following the route of the Incas. Because of the Inca trail’s popularity, the Peruvian government only allows a certain number of people each day. So I went for an alternative route and I was not disappointed!

The Sacred Valley & Lares Adventure to Machu Picchu is operated by Mountain Lodges of Peru, these 5 days trek offers a-la-carte activities to choose from each day for example visits to local communities and weavers villages; archaeological ruins of Pisaq, Chinchero and Ollantaytambo or alternatively hikes over the Sacred Valley. The scenery throughout was stunning and I met some of the local farmers from the indigenous communities, I had the opportunity to learn about their way of life which has century old traditions.

Many of us are still thinking about travelling safely, avoid crowds and we want to visit a place and learn about their culture. The Sacred Valley & Lares Adventure to Machu Picchu offers that, small groups of 6 or 8 people which are ideal for family and friends.

𝑫𝒊𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘?

The Galápagos tortoises are the biggest in the world, the adult male reaches more than 5 feet long and 4 to 5 feet wide and the males weigh more than 226kg. Despite the size of the tortoises they can move faster than usual (13km in just two days) during the males's mating season.
