Buon Ferragosto! And Happy Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary. My favorite Assumption masterpiece is by the Renaissance artist Titian. You can find it in the Church of the Santa Maria Glorioso dei Frari in Venice. Measuring over 22 feet tall, it is said to be the tallest piece of art in Venice. It is simply stunning and hard to believe Titian’s first major commission. Swipe to see the painting a little closer.
