CGGC

CGGC Thirty years' development has seen it grow into a colossal SOE. RCC asphalt concrete core wall of Maopingxi earth-rock dam set five records in China, i.e.

China Gezhouba Group Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "CGGC") affiliated to the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council was founded in 1970 when all the elites in hydroelectric field came all over the nation to build the Gezhouba Hydroelectric Project. Its business scope includes infrastructure construction, investment, hydroelectrical works and hig

hways as well as real estate. CGGC and its branches have proved contracting capability in hydroelectric works and other thirty fields. It is the main contractor of the Three Gorges Hydroelectric Project (hereinafter referred to as "TGP"). It has also wholly or partially contracted and constructed over 100 large hydroelectric projects such as Gezhouba HPP, Xiluodu HPP, Xiangjiaba HPP, Jinanqiao HPP, Geheyan HPP, Shuibuya HPP, Ertan HPP, Manwan HPP, Jinghong HPP, Dachaoshan HPP, Xiaowan HPP, Longtan HPP, Jingping HPP I, Jingping HPP II, Gongboxia HPP and Laxiwa HPP and approximately 3000 nuclear power stations, thermal power stations, substation and transmission works, highways, railways, bridges, dikes, docks, ports, environment protection works, communication works and housing. CGGC was awarded approximately 70% of TGP and set a series of records in hydroelectric field such as diversion and river-closure, high rate and quality of concrete placement, blasting for demolishment of stage III concrete cofferdam, metal structure installation and electrical commissioning of double-way five-step shiplock as well as fast installation of large turbo-generator units. River closure of the main channel for TGP was carried out in the biggest flow (8,480-11,600m³/s) and deepest water depth (60m) in the world. Closure of diversion open channel of TGP was the most difficult in the world with a total capacity of 410.2MW, one and a quarter times bigger than Itaipu HPP in Brazil. max height of asphalt concrete core wall of 93.00m, maxi length of 901.20m, annual maxi placement rate of 14,092.40 m³, maxi monthly rate of 1894.00 m³ and maxi daily rate of 125.00 m³. CGGC also set a world record of annual concrete placement of 2,581,000 m³ in a single hydroelectric project (Phase II of TGP) in 2000. A new quality national record found its way to CGGC when 98.4% of the total concrete placement was crack-free in the Lot IB of dam section in front of powerhouse in Phase III of TGP. The project commenced on July 18, 2003 and completed on April 25, 2006. The concrete placement totaled 2,217,000m³. CGGC generated new world records in Phase III RCC cofferdam construction with maxi placement area of 19,012m² , monthly rate of 476,000 m³, daily rate of 21,066 m³, shift rate of 7438.5 m³, hourly rate of 1278 m³. RCC cofferdam in Stage III of TGP was demolished with largest quantity and biggest difficulty in the world and hence was named as "the First Blasting in the World". CGGC also has proved investment and financing capability. It is the only listed company in hydroelectric construction companies nationwide. Its own financing company has received a credit line of 40billion RMB from a commercial bank and 10 billion RMB from China Exim. CGGC is the developer of six hydroelectric stations and three expressways and many large real estate in Shanghai, Wuhan, Yichang. It has supplied the bulk of special cement to TGP thanks to its largest special cement production base in China. It is also home to the second largest civil blasting enterprise in China . CGGC has been exposed to manuafacturing and installation of E & M equipment, engineering plants, metal structure pressure vessel, ships as well as production and sailing of such chemical products as yellow phosphorous and bonding agent. So far it has built a roll-on-roll-off ship, large piece equipment for TGP, capable of transporting runner of 480t and main transformer of 410t per piece. CGGC is a big name in tourism. Its four three-star ships and four four-star ones are shining on the Yangtze river. CGGC established the first postdoctoral scientific research workstation and the first State-level Technology Center in hydropower construction industry in China. CGGC has landed over 700 scientific and technological awards likeSuper Prize for National Advance Science & Technology Progress and 19 core technologies in deep water river closure, mass concrete temperature control, super large cavern construction, bulk explosive underground charging trucks. In addition, CGGC has compiled or participated in the compilation of over 30 national or industrial criteria represented by the construction specification of CFRD, manufacturing, installation and inspection for acceptance of steel gates of hydroelectric projects. It took the lead in national or international technologies, as can be seen in earthwork excavation, blasting, temperature control and placement of high strength concrete, circumferential pre-stress concrete in fast flow tunnel, grand river diversion and closure, quick installation of large turbo-generating units, fabrication and installation of large metal structures, production of special cement and detonator as well as mechanized blasting. CGGC has been active in its outreach to the overseas market. So far, it has taken on over 30 contracts in hydroelectric projects, highways as well as water supply in the Middle-East, South Asia, South-East Asia and Africa. Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project in Negiria stands out as the largest hydropower project ever contracted by Chinese enterprise outside China. With an average annual increase of 30% in the number of international contracts and turnover in the past three years, CGGC has become one of the fastest growing international contractors and granted by the Ministry of Commerce with Qualification A for contracting complete project financed by foreign-aid. More importantly, CGGC has been consecutively mentioned in ENR Top 225 International Contractors.
