We are proud to be part of the SA Adventure Industry Association -SA AIA 4x4 & Overlanding Chapter (the first of many Adventure Chapters being set up).

The 4x4 Chapter has taken the initiative to actively participate in the development of new ISO operational standards for adventure tourism, which include 4x4, buggy, quadricycle, and tricycle activities. These international standards, facilitated by SABS and aligned across SADC countries, aim to standardize operations and ensure safety.

FYI
Just thought this might be of interest to all those outdoors people with the hot weather we have been having.

Ok, So I learnt something new.
I try and look after myself when working outdoors in the heat and always drink lots of water etc.

However it appears you can drink too much water, which is bad, if you repeatedly don't top up the electrolytes and salts.
So the last few months I have been doing a lot of physical work in extreme temperatures, clearing overgrowth & trees, repairing washed away routes on new trails being developed etc.
I have kept up my water intake to up to 5 litres per day.
However I had not been topping up my electrolytes etc.
Apparently when you drink to much water and don't top up the electrolytes, your body fluid barrier is depleted and the result is dehydration and fatigue.
So in future I will not only be drinking water but will also be topping up my electrolytes.

The last two weeks I have been very tired and flat, no energy with cold clammy sweating.
First visit to the Doc we thought it might be my low iron levels and low blood pressure, so topped up with vitamins, steak and spinach etc.
But that did not help.
Was back at the Doc today after all the blood tests and my battery was still flat even after plenty of steaks, spinach and vitamins.
Not the flu, not the heart, not low iron, not low blood pressure, not covid etc.
Appears to be dehydration and fatigue from to much water and not enough electrolytes.
Got a course of stuff to rehydrate and top up my electrolytes.
Doc says it will take several days to get my body fluid barrier back to a healthy level.
So lets hope the body rebounds quick.

So in addition to the first Aid Kit, I will be carrying extra rehydrate sachets to top up when it is hot and not only to treat dehydration.

10's of 1000's of Swallows or Swifts at the Mvubu Rustic Bush Camp at Sunset.
Can never tell the difference when they are in flight.
Perhaps the Bird fundies can enlighten us.

Awesome Tours and Adventures in Addo

If you love the outdoors, wildlife, birds, landscapes, etc. then you are in the right place. Our small guided trips to Addo Elephant National Park can provide you with the opportunity to experience a memorable game drive. You may be lucky enough to sight all of the Big 7, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard, Southern Wright Whale and the Great White Shark. However there are plenty of other animals large and small that are just as interesting. The Park is also home to the Endangered Flightless Dung Beetle, the African Penguin, Blue eyed Cape Gannet and a number of others.
