Planet Texas 2050 a UT-Austin initiative unfolding under the umbrella of Building Bridges officially launched in the Austin community last night at the Ladybird Wildflower Center and today they worked with the Nature Conservancy in Texas to sponsor a parklet for (ing)DayATX -- Public City is so excited to be partnering with them in a creative initiative to drive community engagement, especially among young folks. Over the month of September, we helped organize a series of free art classes at Pegasus Plaza for downtown residents, workers and fans. The classes included painting spoon rests with Twice Baked Clay, string art with Crystal Vickers, embroidery with Nerd & Brawler, and flower arranging with Charming Florals & Finds. HUGE thanks to Lone Chimney Mercantile at the Dallas Farmers Market for introducing us to so many of the artists who taught, and to Downtown Dallas, Inc. for sponsoring the series!

Ja'Hennessy has been a total rock star this week at the Cafe Momentum pop up!!

INTERN OF THE WEEK: Ja’Hennessy continues to excel at Cafe Momentum. His skills as a server have impressed his supervisors & guests alike. The expectations placed on Mr. Bryant have been intentionally designed to push him to believe in himself & value he brings to our organization- and he’s met all of them. Now in a leading role in the restaurant, he’s utilized his artistic & creative abilities to foster stronger communication, teamwork, problem-solving, planning, & organization among our team. He has become the eyes & ears of the restaurant during service hours, and has won intern of the week three times!

Prelude: a free, two-night art event that will transform the exterior spaces of the Meyerson Symphony Center and AT&T Performing Arts Center with ten major, immersive art installations – a preview of a significant, larger scale event planned for Aurora 2017.
