From where I’d rather be right now 🩷
My coffee view January 1st ….nice way to start a new year ☕️ and of course my favourite juice in Bali, Dragon fruit.
My recommendation to everyone heading to Bali is to have some traditional Jamu. I found it hard to get it this trip but the only time I’ve got sick too. So fully recommend & take probiotics either you too.
Do you have any other suggestions or recommendations for people travelling to Bali soon?

I had lots of requests to share where I stayed in Syros island. We had two rooms here one with a balcony view. 💖💖.
Is a magnificent 19th century building that was renovated into a beautiful boutique hotel that a family from
Syros spent much time in perfecting a beautiful & genuine experience for its guests.

The rooms have panoramic sea views with a staircase leading to the sea for a refreshing swim in the crystal clear water. Breakfast is served on the roof where you can enjoy the amazing view of the Aegean Sea. The view out to the Vaporia area is incredible.

The staff do everything possible to make your stay memorable. The hospitality is 10/10 & the friendly, happy staff are willing to help you with anything you need during your stay.

It’s in the best location, within the town.
It’s close to all the best restaurants & if you haven’t put Syros on your bucket list please do so & stay here. The island has so much to offer & a wonderful history too.

Thank you again to Spyros, Sophie & Anna for your amazing hospitality.
We cannot wait to return. .

For any of you hoping to do a sunrise trek or any type of mountain activity, read the latest here .
It’s been banned, effective immediately.
Bad tourist behaviour is considered a reason. Repercussions for many tourism
Operators
There has been lots of backlash about it today.

Your thoughts?

I’m inclined to think it did need to be changed but not this drastic.

In this seismic announcement, Governor Koster has formally announced the ban of all activities on all of Bali's mountains and volcanos.

A year ago today I was dining here with some friends on what was our return after two years away from Bali due to the pandemic.
I’ve since been lucky enough to have been to Bali another 3 times after that so I feel very grateful to have been four times in 10 months as customs in Bali reminded me 7 weeks ago 😉😆
It is certainly back but my personal opinion is that feels a little different.
Still a wonderful place to travel to…..
always 💖.
This is a great restaurant & attached villas in Uluwatu. Just love it here.

I finally returned to the “institution” we all love to visit .. Bintang supermarket, a few weeks ago.
Some of you may remember it was burnt down at the start of the pandemic.
It’s been open now since late 2021 but I didn’t get a chance to go on previous trips.
LADIES save this post to see what I bought!
I mean who doesn’t love wandering the aisles & stocking up on supplies, when staying in a villa especially.
I love seeing the knick knack souvenirs too, even though I don’t generally buy I like to see that basically none of it has changed! There are some good alternatives here to the stupid stuff you see on the streets ( I won’t go into the stuff you see, we all see it 🙄)
You don’t have to leave your bag anymore which is good & upstairs ladies some really nice bags.
I actually went for one specific item that I had been meaning to get as I had heard a lot about it.
Not sure about all of you but I get curly, frizzy hair in Bali & there is a product that I have I wanted to try as it gets good reviews.
Ladies - game changer.. for me especially if you want your hair nice for dinner like I do, it worked for me!
It’s a 50ml bottle perfect for travel & see last pic
And guess what it’s $2 😝.
I couldn’t find it anywhere but there… so thank me later you’ll love it! But if it doesn’t work for you a trip to Bintang is still worth it!
**not sponsored just trying help out a few frizzy hair friends in Bali 😂.
So save this post if you need it!

I had such a great stay here last week at in Kuta which is part of the group.
The hotel has been in operation since 2021 and the rooms are vibrant & right opposite the beach which I love.
Kuta beach has always been a favourite of mine for many years.
I enjoyed that Kuta has become a lot quieter since the pandemic & that means a perfect holiday for me.
I had a beach view room (Kokomo) & the rooms are decorated with Balinese materials such as weaving & rattan lamps which certainly brings ambience to the modern decor in each room.
Everyone gets a Bag of “ surprise “ lollies & snacks. The little touches like this that feel extra special.
The rooftop is amazing & colourful. Also has great views out to Seminyak & beyond.
The infinity rooftop pool with views out to Jimbaran bay is a great place to soak it all in. 🍹
I had lunch on the rooftop, a beautiful breakfast in their ground floor cafe/bar Street 42.
If you’re looking to return to Kuta this is a great place, modern, clean vibrant and well priced … and suited to all.

I spent yesterday morning going to a few of my favourite places in Seminyak and returned to which is a contemporary gallery that has been thoughtfully curated & designed.
There are many works from international artists and there is no manufactured art here so you will pay for ‘real art’. (As opposed to copied in Bali). 💖
I have found one painting (not pictured here) that depicts an aspect of life in Bali and I am certainly considering it.
If you’re just wanting to admire art, come for a look & enjoy the space.
The additional new rooms are great. The staff is knowledgeable about the stories behind the art, and if you know Bali’s famous street artist Quint, you’ll find some well priced pieces here.
Quint hides his identity from the police & mostly paints women as in this first pic here. You will see his street art around Canggu. He takes a photo of someone and then paints it as he sees it.
Take the time to visit Bali’s art galleries. It’s one of my favourite things to do.
Some have cafes too, like Nyamen.

German art activist Liina Klauss has demonstrated the reality of the effects of marine pollution .
She had seen so many plastics such as thongs (flip flops) washed up as she walked along the shore when she was in Hong Kong.
She also worked with Green school in Ubud with a goal to maintain awareness of what was happening in Bali.
Collecting 5000 flip flops over 6 visits to the beach in the west of Bali, the artist & activist created a large scale art nstallation at Desa Potato Head.
So when you pass this next time take a good look & consider why it was done.
And while you’re there have one Bali’s most famous cocktails, The Kookaburra 🍹.

It’s been great seeing many people return to Bali over this Christmas/New year break.
I am loving seeing so many amazing photos!
I’m often asked what was one of my favourite places I returned to last year……Here was one of the first dinners I had post pandemic return & it was beautiful dining on the beachfront here in Seminyak with friends.
It’s a quiet place & as this photo shows by the pool area, it has refined elegance & perfect for couples too if you are looking for romance 💘
I enjoy a quieter experience in Bali now & will begin organising a new itinerary for an August group this year. And the restaurant here will be on the list.

The path down to Bingin beach as the hotel staff carried our bags. 😅.
Wonderful place & not as busy as the rest of south Bali. The bougainvillea trees were stunning in September
🌸🌸🌸🌸.
Here are some of my suggestions where to stay. So save this post for future reference. .

In no particular order. 🏨

🌸Plus many more you can find on a map of Bukit.🌸
And some of my most favourite restaurants/cafes along the beach 🍽️🍹.

And there are many more up on the cliff area too or a short ride into Uluwatu is a good idea too.
It’s a peaceful place & the water is beautiful. 💦
It’s also a great place to meet people & even a bit of celebrity spotting 👀
like we did if you’re lucky enough!
Who did we meet? 🕷️🧔‍♂️🕴️

Our Story

I have been travelling to Bali for over 30 years and I developed an affection for the people and culture of Bali, long before I began working in the airline industry, in the early 1990s. I love Seminyak and the “foodies” culture that has existed there for some time now and I also enjoy trying all of the foods from the 5 star restaurants but also visit the cheap and cheerful warungs that were part of the way I first found Bali all those years ago, however aesthetically different, to the way it now looks. Ubud is one of my favourite places. Also Eastern Bali is incredible and often missed by many. It’s where two of the children I sponsor live and have enjoyed numerous catch ups with them showing me the real Candidasa.

Primarily, my experiences of accommodation in Bali have been in villas but also many hotels. I have stayed in many types from luxury to comfortable. I have been organising groups of women for the past 6 years . My trips are relaxing with a focus on good & organic food, cultural activities, shopping, amazing cocktails and lots of fun!

Originally an English teacher for 5 years, I moved into the airlines as a recruitment officer managing the new flight atttendants and training schools and then as ground staff/training for both Ansett and then Qantas. I then left and returned to higher education as a Tourism and Business Management and Leadership educator.

There is a difference between good and excellent details. As an organiser of groups, I can safely say that my experience and knowledge in Bali is absolutely vital when putting together a group. Having many friends and contacts in Bali over many many years has been invaluable and is essential to my success in leading these groups.
