What a fabulous addition to our lovely village 😊

fans I sought and received clarification about the Greenway extension from ‘official sources’ and it goes like this :

1. “The Carlingford Lough Greenway project a cross-border project from Carlingford to Newry and will not be formally opened until the 'bordwalk' between from the border and Victoria Lock is completed. A contractor is appointed for this 'bordwalk' section and we hope for it to be constructed by end of 2024. Until that time the Carlingford Lough Greenway will not be fully opened”

2. “The new Greenway between Omeath and the border is essentially complete at this time. We have completed some outstanding coastal defense work, about 1km north of Omeath, but the Greenway surface is affected in this 100m area and will be resurfaced next week. We understand the contractor will close this section of Greenway when this resurfacing work is being carried out.
Then the Greenway will be open from Omeath to the border. There will be no access to the Greenway border therefore Greenway users will be only able to travel to the border and return. You will note there was never a plan to have access to the Greenway on or near the border.

So, whilst some works are on-going, the stretch of Greenway from Omeath to the Border IS open….

Last time of asking (ish!). Families Ride Free on Sunday 19th, our last event. It has been great craic (again!) thanks to the support of Louth Local Sports Partnership. At this late stage, we would ask that if you are interested in taking a ride along the Carlingford Lough Greenway that you call us on 0879921559 telling us when you want to start, the bikes you need (Male/Female/Height and the Kids bikes you need (Child Seat/ Trailer/ 20” / 24” / 26” / 28”). Weather is set fine so let’s all enjoy the last day of
