While we, my wife and I, built our company, Antiquity, we worked toward our Big Role-Out. We wanted a lead off product that would glorify God, His Church, edify His people and never end up as a throw away from religious aunt Betty's estate, offered for sale in some ones drive way Garage Sale or swap meet junk pile. We did our best work and went 36 months without a payday. THIRTY-SIX MONTHS WITHOUT A PAYDAY..FOR THIRTY-SIX MONTHS WE LIVED OUT OF THE BANK!..We began, by deciding what our product line would lead off with, how we would build it, securing raw materials and tools, and experimenting with techniques. I spent a lot of money trying to Honor God, and help our dying culture right itself by building tasteful, God honoring, sacred art. When we had a thousand pieces of art, boxed and ready for worldwide shipment, I spent the last of our accumulated wealth on professional advertising. I rented Bill Boards on Freeways of Megalopolises across the USA. I bought full page color ads in tasteful publications of Religious Interests,Art, Archeology,and interior design; World-Wide. I told my wife, that if we sold out it would be a miracle. If we sold 500 we'd have been a great success, if we sold 200 we'd have bought ourselves a pretty good job and made enough to try again. We imagined our market was 1.5 billion Roman Catholics, 650,000 Eastern Right Catholics, 550,000 various Protestants, Art lovers, Lovers of Antiquities, and people with good taste. WE SOLD 14. FOURTEEN! That was seven years ago. I still have many stored in our Mother-in-Law attached quarters, and our business Web Site; Antiquityart.com is still open for business. I'm ever faithful. I believe God told me to do this, we did. We almost lost our home and without the herculean Charity of my wife's family..we would have and I would now be living under a bridge and my wife would have had to move back home..to Singapore where her family lives. Perhaps..our art is not in good taste? Perhaps it's not heirloom quality? Perhaps it's to "IN YOUR FACE" ? Oh..PERHAPS IT COSTS TOO MUCH? Hmmm, cost to much.. compared to what? A two week vacation in the Bahamas? A lavish dinner out on the town with two other couples?? A $70,000 pick up truck? A $500,000 oil of a screaming ghoul ..done in Blue, or perhaps Red, or ORANGE? Whatever, we still offer them for sale, we still find them beautiful, in very good taste and in Honor of GOD ALMIGHTY...and we still wonder..why? Why does no-one ever buy one?? Maybe, someone can explain it to me, in a way I can understand? I'd love to chat about it..any takers?🤔
