We can grieve AND rejoice in Christ at the same time. We can enjoy all this extra time with our people AND still need time apart. We can appreciate technology AND be sick of all things digital. We can feel weary even if we’re strong, sad though we’re grateful, fearful even while doing something brave.
We can have hope and lament at the same time in this current season. There is the tension of both/and right now, and frankly, that’s okay.
But we CANNOT lean fully on Jesus while trusting fully in ourselves. We cannot simultaneously lay it all down and hold it all together. 🙅🏻♀️
E.M. Bounds says it this way:
“Gratitude and murmuring never abide in the same heart at the same time.”
👉🏼 That tells me course-correction is necessary and moment by moment; it’s never too late to tell your heart + soul Who’s in control.
↔️ In the same way we can’t go left and right at the same time, we have to make a choice —day by day— whom we will serve, what we will treasure, where we will SET OUR HOPE.
SO HERE’S TO A NEW WEEK...of breath, of life, of hope, of realigning our hearts with what is TRUE, not just what we feel.
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:7)
