Bonne fête de l’Épiphanie!

Bonne fête de l’Épiphanie à tous! 🎂👑✨ Today is Galette des Rois Day! ✨🎉

A beloved French tradition dating back to the 14th century, the Galette des Rois is typically enjoyed on January 6th to celebrate Epiphany—the day the Three Kings arrived at the manger where Jesus was born. Marking the end of the 12 days of Christmas, this day is all about sharing and celebration.

This flaky, buttery pastry—often filled with frangipane (almond cream)—comes with a delightful twist! Hidden inside is a fève, a small figurine or token. The lucky one who finds it is crowned King or Queen for the day and gets to wear the golden paper crown that accompanies the cake. 👑

I have such fond memories of sharing a galette in school and even being crowned once! I still love enjoying it each year and can’t help hoping I’ll find the fève again.

We had a wonderful time enjoying the 🎄 Christmas decorations and homemade hot chocolate ☕ in Mirepoix last week. A gorgeous market village south of Toulouse and close to the UNESCO-listed treasure of Carcassonne. It's also near our newest property, LAS CAPELAS – a stunning 18-room villa with breathtaking views of the Pyrenees ⛰️⛰️ This region definitely deserves more exploration!
