Did you know that there are nearly 50 attractions (including walk-throughs) at Disneyland that have no height restriction? That’s a LOT of sweet togetherness where the littles can experience all the magic and not feel left out of any of the fun. (For the bigger rides, Disneyland does offer rider swap as well.) Is there any better time to visit the parks than when the magic is 100% authentic, when they are convinced that this really is Aurora’s castle, that really is Mickey Mouse and they absolutely just hugged THE Buzz Lightyear? (And there’s something to be said about kids under 3 being free.) What is your favorite attraction to do with your little Mouseketeers?

Disney is giving you a free water park day—should you use it? A brand-new perk for 2025: Guests staying at a Walt Disney World resort now get FREE admission to a Disney water park on their arrival day only! But should you take advantage of it or just chill at the resort pool? Let’s break it down:
Resort pools are super convenient and relaxing and a great way to ease into vacation mode. But…not all have slides, and none can match the thrill of a full-blown water park. If you’re staying at a Value Resort, seriously consider this perk. Even with just a few hours (if you arrive late morning or early afternoon) at a water park, you get access to slides, wave pools, lazy rivers, and a whole new part of Walt Disney World you might not otherwise visit. Tickets are about $80 per person, so if Disney is giving you a freebie, why not take it?

Has racing each other in Mario Kart been a favorite family pastime for as long as the kiddos could hold the controllers? Having Universal bring to life our favorite Nintendo characters and experiences is going to level up all the crazy fun! I am most excited about the real-life competitions to collect “coins” just like in our favorite games and, of course, riding Bowser’s Challenge. Let’s get real for a second—if you’ve been to a Disney park lately, you know those paper straws are... not magical. They’re soggy by the time you hit the second sip, and if you’re enjoying a Dole Whip float or milkshake, good luck. But here’s the thing: Disney’s switch to paper straws is part of a larger effort to reduce single-use plastics and protect the environment. It’s a small, commendable step with a big impact, but it doesn’t make those paper straws any easier to love! So, what’s the solution? Be prepared! Bring your own reusable straw (there are tons of collapsible and easy-to- clean options out there), or pick one up at the parks— many shops sell cute themed reusable straws if you want a magical upgrade. Or you can just skip the straw altogether!

The bottom line? Paper straws might not be perfect, but Disney’s commitment to sustainability is something we can all get behind. And with a little planning, you can sip in style and save the planet one drink at a time. OK straw lovers, let’s hear from you! Do you bring you’re own? “Suck it up” (pun intended) and use the paper? In the age of selfies (and if you have teenagers, you know the 0.5 fad all too well) vacation picture taking has certainly changed a bit over the years. Rarely do we ask fellow cruisers to pause and take a family photo, and if the arm is long enough Mom can be seen in the selfie photo overlooking the ocean. How important is it to you for your family to have at least some professional grade photos from your adventure? Are there certain shots that you HAVE to have every time you sail on Disney Cruise Line? Tell us how you tackle vacation picture taking when you are on the high seas?

These types of trip add-ons are so personal, but I can’t imagine cruising without some pictures with my favorite characters and around Castaway Cay. Are you one to purchase a photo package on a cruise? Or just a few? Or just use your own phone?

Is there anything better than those first few hours at
Disneyland? I mean, come on—the way the sun hits just right, casting that perfect almost angelic glow on Sleeping Beauty Castle and Main Street, U.S.A., as the park starts to wake up? Pure magic. You’ve got the sweet smell of churros and popcorn already wafting through the air (because obviously, snacks are life), and that upbeat Disney soundtrack mixing with the buzz of guests in matching shirts planning their day? Chef’s kiss. Early entry is where it’s at, folks. Short lines, fewer people, better photo ops and the absolute joy of breezing through the park like a VIP. If there’s ever a time you feel like this really is the happiest place on earth, it’s first thing in the morning!

What makes Disneyland’s rope drop so much better than
Walt Disney World’s is that if you stay on property or at one of the closer Good Neighbor hotels, it’s literally steps to the front gates. So no getting up HOURS before the park opens. Disneyland is just SO. MUCH. EASIER. Easier while offering all the feel good things that make you a Disney fan. It’s not to be compared to WDW, it’s in a league all its own. Even though today is No One Eats Alone day, I’d say dining (and traveling) alone can be pretty therapeutic. I’ll take it even one step farther and say that vacationing alone can be the recharge your mind and body may have been craving all along. You are in charge of the schedule. As Rafiki says: “The past can hurt. ” This is especially true if the past involves bad shoe choices in Disney parks. Do not choose style over comfort, you will regret it. A typical guest at Walt Disney World clocks about 18,000+ steps a day. Not to mention it often rains, can be blistering hot and on top of walking, there’s also a lot of standing involved. Your feet really work overtime!

The queen of all princess castles has got to be Disneyland Paris’ Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant (translation: Sleeping Beauty Castle). You may want to fight me on this, but first let me make my pitch – it has an animatronic dragon! I don’t think I need to say more, but I will. Visually stunning, guests are welcome inside where not only are you presented with the retelling of the original story through readings and tapestries as you walk up around and through, but you feel as if you’ve stepped
inside the fairytale. Snoring life-sized guards, impressive stone pillars, stunning stained glass windows, winding staircases...it’s all so fantastic! Then you head below to the Dragon’s lair. You may find her sleeping, but not for long...
