Mykonos is magical! We didn’t book any shore excursions - we just took the quick and easy water shuttle (no pre-reservation necessary) and walked through the beautiful alleyways on our own. With each turn, you get a surprise! Highly recommend just exploring on your own if you can’t decide what to do!
We had such good food on the Sun Princess! We were lucky enough to have our bid for a Reserve Mini-Suite accepted, and we definitely took advantage of the Reserve restaurant, which had amazing food and service, with no wait at all. We also went to Sabatini’s and Crown Grill - both were really good, but Sabatini’s was our favorite, and we left so stuffed!
We loved our shore excursion in Istanbul - we had a relaxing Bosphorus cruse (seeing two continents at once!) with a Turkish breakfast, a visit to the amazing and newly reopened Blue Mosque (officially the Sultan Ahmed Mosque), and a visit to the Grand Bazaar for shopping. Our guide was great and provided information about each stop, and it was a great combination of activities to show us a bit of Istanbul in the time we had!
We loved walking around Chania’s charming old town after having a relaxing lunch along the old port. As many know, the Sun Princess has not been going to Santorini as originally scheduled, and while not quite the same, Chania is a fun town to explore, and the island of Crete has many great destinations for shore excursions as well.
The first stop on our cruise was Naples, where we explored on our own. We started with Castel Sant’Elmo to check out the gorgeous views of Naples and the surrounding areas. After climbing to the top and back down, we took a break for some pizza, of course! Then we walked around more of the city, seeing a few sites on our way back to the ship!

We always love Rome, but especially when we’re staying at ! Such a beautiful hotel with amazing service. We were able to easily walk to so many of the sites we wanted to see, and Palazzo Ripetta was able to call us cabs easily when we needed them. They also arranged our dinner , where the pasta can’t be beat!
Our last dinner was at Provence, the French restaurant. The steak is so good, and order the carrot vegan entree to share as a table - both are excellent choices! And the creme brûlée is the perfect end to the meal. Also, you can go into the wine cellar/room and pick out whichever bottle you’d like to try with dinner!
Deluxe amenities are truly impressive. There is a quieter section of the beach, complete with beds on the beach for the ultimate beach nap. Also pictured is the free beach bag provided in the room. And the deluxe pool is not to be missed either - while every pool has included bar and food service, the deluxe pool has a slightly different menu with more options. Additionally, the gin and tonic trolley that comes around is so fun, and you can get your sunglasses cleaned while lounging! The pool itself is incredibly big, so it never feels crowded at all.
Another meal not to be missed - with another favorite dish (the duck entree in picture 5) for the trip! Anaya is the Asian restaurant at Ikos Olivia, and from its upscale atmosphere to its tasty food, it’s definitely sure to be a favorite!
We booked an afternoon sailing adventure through , and it was such a good time. After a quick drive to , we boarded our private sailboat for a lovely 2.5 hour trip, including a swim in clear, blue water! We got back on the boat to fresh fruit trays and sailed back to the dock. Highly recommend this outing while you’re at Ikos Olivia!
If you’re in doubt about whether to have the dinner on the beach or not, just go for it! We had an amazing dinner with some of the best food all trip - all while sitting comfortably with our feet in the sand, watching the sun set, and listening to the waves lap at the shore. At Ikos Olivia, the dinner is included if you book a Deluxe room. Such a nice addition to an already amazing trip!
Today we explored Afytos, an adorable town just a short drive from Ikos Olivia with their complimentary Tesla rental! We ate some gelato, walked around, shopped a bit, and stopped for lunch with a gorgeous view of the water (yes, in that order). It was so much fun to get to explore in a low-key, easy way thanks to !
We are already loving our time - we immediately went to the pool when we arrived, for some cocktails and snacks, and then checked out the trampoline and playground (a favorite with the little ones). We ended the night at Ouzo, the Greek restaurant on property. Such a beautiful location with great service and food!

Our room onboard the #SunPrincess is so much more spacious than we were expecting! We have a Reserve Mini-Suite - we were originally booked into a normal mini-suite and bid the minimum for the upgrade to get the perk of the Reserve restaurant, which has definitely been worth it. The Mini-Suite also provides additional room over a Deluxe Balcony, as it spreads out the room (with the closets being across from the desk) and provides a curtain to close off one section of the room (with an additional TV in front of the bed as well). The bathroom is also very roomy - you’d never know you were on a cruise ship. We changed rooms yesterday to a Deluxe Two Bedroom Bungalow Suite Beachfront, which has been incredible. We’ll post about the deluxe pool soon, but check out this room!! It’s perfect for families, with so much space to spread out.
