Here's what my monthly rent in California got me abroad (pt. 1)
I was able to spend 3 weeks in the Philippines. I traveled to 10 different cities. I took a private boat to an island and did 2 flights there. I did 10+ different tours that consisted of snorkeling shipwrecks, snorkeling with fish, boat tours to different islands and white sand beaches, and so many other epic tours. I also did 5 scuba dives with sea turtles, thresher sharks, and more sea creatures on 2 different islands. I stayed in hostel dorms, but also private rooms. I ate out every meal (2 meals a day - I don't eat breakfast). I also bought souvenirs, went to a healer, and did some private transportation.
So what did all of that add up to? $917 for everything + $367 (for 2 flights within the Philippines) = $1284
My monthly rent: $1097 + utilities = roughly ~$1200
So I was able to do so many cool things in the Philippines for around the same price as what I was paying for my monthly rent in California.
Depending on what your expenses and rent are - if that amount is lower than what you spend, then great! You can do even more things!
If that amount is too high, there are still ways to make it even cheaper. I went to the Philippines during peak season and booked everything very last minute so you could go during off-season or plan in advance (which means cheaper prices). You could find accommodations with free breakfast to help cut costs. You could bargain more or do less tours. You could stay in dorms instead of private rooms, etc.
The point of this though is that you can travel the world and still do fun things while doing it cheaply. Traveling full-time does not mean you have to stay in big dorms, cook every meal at home, and miss out on epic sh*t.
Have you ever been to the Philippines? Were you expecting all of that to be that amount!?

Important things to do with your passport🌎✈️
When renewing your passport, get extra blank pages. It's completely free (check with your home country's policies) and is so important if you travel a lot (especially you're long-term traveling). With getting a lot of visas and entry stamps, your passport can fill up quickly. This is important because a country can deny you entry if you don't have enough blank pages in your passport. This happened to someone next to me.
Get an RFID-blocking passport to prevent scammers from scanning and stealing your passport information.
Bring extra passport photos with you when you're traveling on the go (especially important for long-term travelers). This way you don't have to get your passport photo taken while you're traveling. You can just use your extra photos you brought with you for visas upon arrival.
Scan the passport photo to your computer/phone so you can easily apply for visas online when you're traveling on the go.
Check your damn expiration date. This is an obvious one, but for some reason, too many people forget to do this and only realize when it's too late. Passport renewals are taking a long time to renew so get this done ahead of time! & with this, you should also make sure it's at least valid for 6 months when traveling to a country (a lot of country requirements).
I also have 11 more passport tips you need to do on my blog (link in bio).
📌Save for later!

I have something exciting to share🎉
I'm in USA TODAY!!! I still cannot believe that my name, my biz, my travel tips are inside USA Today... Can someone please pinch me?!
Lol but for real - celebrating my wins/achievements is something I'm actually not used to doing. I've always been very grateful, but I never fully felt the gratitude and all the emotions that came with it. This is something I've been actively trying to work on this past year - being fully present, joyful, and ecstatic about every single win, big or small.
When I found out, I wish you could have seen me - I was jumping up and down with excitement, doing some sort of Carlton dance? With the biggest smile on my face.
I think it's so important to celebrate yourself & celebrate your wins because I feel like too often we are thinking about the next goal, the next milestone, the next thing on our to-do list. It's so important to stop and appreciate and celebrate everything that you've accomplished so far! When you take the time to celebrate your wins and hold gratitude, you create more abundance and become a true magnet. So don't forget to celebrate yourself - big or small!
What is something exciting that's happened to you recently? Did you make sure to stop & celebrate yourself?!😍

One of the world's best hot air balloon rides is in Bagan, Myanmar. Trust me - you'll want to add this to your bucket list! ⠀
⠀
It was seriously an experience of a lifetime. I can still remember the crisp early morning, watching the hot air balloons rise over the 2000+ temples and pagodas. Watching the sun rise over the mountains with the sun shining on the pagodas was something I'll never forget. The morning starts off with a candlelight breakfast and ends with a champagne toast. In between, you're left speechless. ⠀
⠀
Although this is a must while traveling in Myanmar, it is an expensive activity. It's actually rated one of the top 10 most expensive hot air balloon rides. Depending on the company you choose and the basket size, it ranges from $300-$4000 with the ride being anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour. The baskets vary from private, 4-8 people, or 12-16 people depending on the company. I chose the 8 people basket with 4 people on each side and I felt like it was enough space (of course it would have been nicer with less people though). ⠀
⠀
If you can't afford it, Bagan is still a beautiful place to see the hot air balloons over the pagodas and temples. There's a lot of free places to see the jaw dropping views. However, if you can budget it, I highly recommend you doing so. Majority of the people I met didn't do the hot air balloon ride. Personally, I've always been the type of traveler that would rather spend the money and experience amazing things than save my money and prolong my trip. ⠀
⠀
There's something about Bagan and Myanmar that is just so incredibly special. A little piece of my heart was left there, and I hope to return again soon. ⠀
⠀
Do you plan on adding this to your bucket list? Which type of traveler are you? Save your money and prolong your trip? Or spend the money and experience once in a lifetime things? ⠀
