Far from the Madding Crowd
is not only the title of the romantic drama film adaptation by David Nicholls of the1874 novel 'Far from the Madding Crowd' by Thomas Hardy and starring Carey Mulligan, Matthias Schoenaerts, Tom Sturridge, Michael Sheen and Juno Temple, but it could also be the theme of our road trip to Abruzzo.
A Region with the immense, empty plateau ringed by bare mountains of the Gran Sasso National Park, the frugale beauty and simple life of medieval villages perched on the hilltops, scenic landscapes surrounded by the forest, unique architecture and genuine food.

All this in a small area we visited and famous for a precious spice, the Protected Designation of Origin saffron, commonly called 'red gold'.

A true natural paradise, a wonderful 5-star resort in Tuscany, a meeting hotel and even a SPA in which you can go underwater diving. In the heart of Tuscany, just a short distance from the major art destinations, a nineteenth-century villa is now a luxury hotel surrounded by a secular park. The peculiarity of the resort that makes it unique in the world is the presence of a natural cave thousands of years old that gives benefits with its steam baths. The millenary grotto runs for more than 200 meters in the subsoil, creating underground labyrinths, adorned by stalactites and stalagmites and spacious caves that recall the Dantesque atmospheres of Hell, Purgatory and Paradise. At the base of the cavity is water that stays at a rough temperature of about 36 degrees Celsius, wich emits a health-enhancing, therapeutic steam, immersing guests in a detoxifying "sauna" of sorts and a regenerating experience for both body and mind.
