Located approximately 60 miles West of Reykjavik is a truly unique farming experience called Friðheimar. There you can watch a horse show, then enjoy an amazing 'farm to table' meal... inside the greenhouse!

As you can imagine, not a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables can grow in Iceland. There are many reasons for this. Lack of sunlight in the winter, colder temperatures, and the majority of their soil is made of, or mixed with volcanic material and other material not suitable for growing.

But what they do have in abundance - Fresh spring water and warm soil due to their natural geothermal heat activity. So, the Icelanders used these resources to set up a series of greenhouse farms to grow fresh produce all year round!

While visiting the farm, you'll get to take a 'behind the scenes' tour to learn all about the greenhouses, their growing process and even enjoy a bowl of FRESH tomato soup! I'm pretty sure this was the best tomato soup I've ever tasted. 🍅

As you can imagine, as this IS a tomato farm, the restaurant menu has tomatoes in EVERYTHING! Every single dish somehow incorporates fresh tomatoes, including the alcohol... tomato shot anyone?!? 😁🥃 They fill a fresh (and chilled) tomato with Icelandic Schnapps. It's delicious!

Want to go to Iceland and tour their AMAZING tomato farm? Take our Summer in Iceland Quilt Tour! Click HERE - https://fb.me/e/1ttn2uwZ6 to learn more!! 😍

in 1093, Saint Margaret of Scotland, also known as Margaret of Wessex, passed away. Her death, reportedly caused by grief, came just three days after the Battle of Alnwick where both her husband King Malcom III and eldest son were killed.

A devout Christian, Margaret's charitable spirit was felt far and wide. She established a ferry across the Firth of Forth giving the towns of South Queensferry and North Queensferry, to aid pilgrims bound for St Andrews in Fife.

Today, St. Margaret's devotion is honoured worldwide with numerous churches dedicated in her name. Notably, the oldest building in Edinburgh is St. Margaret's Chapel in Edinburgh Castle which was commissioned by her son, King David I.

Panel 21 of the Great Tapestry of Scotland immortalizes her dedication, showcasing her presence at Dunfermline Abbey in 1080.

Our Story

Our Quilting Tour operation is based in Simpsonville, South Carolina, we’ve been in business for over 27 years. We handle travel arrangements within the United States for both individuals and groups. Our multilingual staff caters to clientele from all corners of the world. We offer tours to the lesser traveled regions of the U.S., such as New England, the “Deep South” and the Pacific Northwest. Many of the tours are tailor made to suit each individual or small group, as far as the length of the tour, its content and price category is concerned. U.S. Quilt Tours ideology is based on the belief that the “real” America is found off the beaten path – away from mass tourism, American history is not only found in Washington, D.C., but on Indian Reservations, the Louisiana Cajun Country and on the lands of the Amish in Pennsylvania and Ohio and the quaint villages of New England. The spectacular nature attractions are an all important element on many of our tours, where visits to the National Parks are frequently incorporated. Specialty Tours in America attract clients from all around the world. A distinct tour specialty, widely marketed by our company is Quilting, a craft popular all over the United States, Europe and beyond. Quilters from different parts of the world travel with us as individuals and in groups, to experience the camaraderie of fellow travelers that have a common interest in the art and craft of quilting. We would love to have you with us!
