For all those watching the Olympics and noticing the chatter about athletes not living up to expectations, remember this: the real lesson here is in understanding how unpredictable, fragile, and extremely tough it is to get everything perfect on one day every four years. The athletes will be overly critical of their performances, so as fans, we should admire their resilience and determination, knowing they did the best they could with the day they were given.

It’s often said you don’t learn much from winning; it’s the losses that teach us the most. When I won the silver in Sydney, someone (a very high profile Swim Coach) told me I should be “disappointed I did not win the Gold”. But I will always be proud of what I accomplished that day in September 2000. I didn’t lose anything—I won the silver and Australia’s first medal in any sport along with Triathlon’s first silver medal ever. My destiny was silver, and it has led to so many awesome opportunities. Let’s celebrate the effort, the spirit, and the journey of every athlete. 🏅🇦🇺

Good luck to everyone racing at Ironman Lake Placid! Remember to smile and thank the volunteers—they’re the heart of this race. Keep swimming, keep pedaling, fuel up, left-right-repeat. Get to mile 20 on the run, and then it’s all about getting to that finish line.

A big shoutout to , whose motto is “Knowing how lucky we are to start and finish.” This is her 21st Ironman, and “The Voice of Ironman” has called her across the finish line every time. This year marks the 20th anniversary of her AG win, when she went 10:45 and set the 40-44 course record. Now she’s ready to tackle the 60+ age group. Giddy Up, Amy!

🎉 Congrats to John Romais and Jeff Jacobs on their amazing performances at Ironman 70.3 Hawaii! 🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️

JJ made an outstanding return to racing after many years away from triathlon, securing 3rd place and a ticket to the 70.3 Worlds! 🥉🌍

John finished 16th in a very competitive age division, showing incredible determination. 💪

Despite the tough, humid, and windy conditions, these two athletes fought all the way to the finish. Well done! 🌪️🌞 Giddy Up Multisport Coaching Michellie Jones Coaching giddyupmultisports.com

Another week in Germany and not going to lie, this week definitely had some ups and downs. A trip to the emergency vet for Luna as she found some rat poison, but thankfully, Andreas Schöffner’s breakneck driving speed got us there fast and so far she seems to be okay. I swear she thinks she is a cat, so she’s down to 6 more lives 😬.

Zoey, the good one, also got into trouble this week as she discovered that chickens might be fun to chase. 🫣

But the weekend ended on a high with the awesome hospitality of the Oelde Triathlon. Met so many great people, from first-timers to one guy who is doing 6 events to represent turning 60, from triathlons to half marathons—you always have to find your “Why?”.

This week it will be more about horses. Stay tuned. Giddy Up from 🇩🇪!

Another week of adventure here in Germany! 🌍 Not all play though, with lots of Zoom and Teams meetings. Still managed some great training, although I think I walked more hours than I trained this week. Visted the city of Oldenburg.

Things I love about Germany:

Racing a 10-miler only costs €11 🏃‍♀️
You get a quarter back for every empty bottle you return ♻️
Everyone says “Moin” 👋
Love the bike lanes 🚴‍♀️
Cars are polite to cyclists 🚗
The Forestry ❤️🌲
The bread is yummy 🥖
The chocolate is yummy 🍫
Chairs and tables out in the fields to rest and eat lunch 🥪

Another week in Germany, another adventure! 🇩🇪✨ This week brought new experiences, from zooming down the Autobahn at over 240k per hour (talk about a thrill!) to exploring the enchanting forests with Zoey and Luna by my side. 🌳🐾 Plus, plenty of swim-bike-run action to keep the triathlon training on track, including a refreshing dip in a heated outdoor 50-meter pool – pure bliss! 💦 And let’s not forget indulging in the deliciousness of Spargel (aka white asparagus) for the first time – definitely worth the hype! 😋 But perhaps the best part? Basking in the stunning weather and soaking up every moment at the barn. 🌞🐴 Here’s to making memories and embracing every adventure that comes our way! 🚴‍♀️🏊‍♂️🏃‍♀️
And not to forget a winning ride by 🙌👍🍾
