This is my question, "Ano ang mas maganda? Maliit o walang kita?

Just imagine how blessed you are dahil nagsisimula ka pa lang may kinikita ka na .

Take note!!
It is a test of patience.

Palakihin mo muna ang kaalaman mo and the result will follow. The more you learn, the better you'll earn.

Learn fast to earn fast😊😊😊

We have a better way❤

You Become What You Consume

I watched Inside Bill’s Brain last night. It’s a documentary about Microsoft’s founder Bill Gates. The first episode delves on Bill’s childhood, and gives us peak in his daily routine. The docu starts with Bill filling up a tote bag filled with books.

Bill is a voracious reader - he reads a 150 pages an hour and retains about 90% of what he reads. He habitually chews his glasses as he flips the pages, and makes notes or highlights.

This is a man who became what he consumed - he read about politics, computer science, business, health, economics, artificial intelligence, environment engineering, and many more.

His sisters shared that as a young kid he would stay all day in his room reading. His mother had to get him out and teach him to socialize with others.

According to a study made in the US:

• 42 percent of college graduates never read another book after college.
• 80 percent of families did not buy or read a book last year.

When was the last time you picked up a book?

Ask your closest friends and family - any of them who read on a daily basis?

I fell in love with reading after college when I had no one to teach me stuff. I wanted to learn how to date girls, build businesses, trade stocks and how to win friends. I was happy to see that there are a ton of books who are waiting for me to devour them.

As the documentary progresses about Bill Gates I was introduced to an epidemic happening in other third world countries - kids are dying of diarrhea.

This doesn’t happen to developing countries because people are educated enough to know how to build sewage systems and decent toilets.

But sadly, this is still an epidemic in Africa. Kids are playing and bathing on rivers where human f***s are dumped.

I used to think that education is overrated. This is because of tech luminaries that I’ve read who dropped out of college to pursue their ventures. But that is naive for me to conclude.

Education is paramount in making progress as a society. I am privileged to get a decent education and humane living conditions. But if I was born in a third world country - I would fight for dear life because of diarrhea.

After watching the doc it made me question my everyday problems. They were insignificant in relation to the grand scheme of things. Problems about gossip, jealousy, and greed. Instead I was inspired to solve more meaningful pressing problems - how do I help others in need?

This is in total contrast to my daily consumption of FaceBook, Instagram, and YouTube. I feel drained after an hour of browsing infinite content. Life updates of people who I barely know. A shallow laugh or smile that I’ll forget in a few minutes.

Of course not everything there is garbage, similarly I have watched TED talks on YouTube, followed NAS Daily on FaceBook, and learned mobile black and white photography from abu888 on Instagram.

I just need to be more mindful with what I consume and protect my attention as best as I can.

How do you control your media consumption? How can we save our finite attention span to more meaningful content?

Because we become what we consume.

Talk to you soon my friend.

But seriously, this is an investment that has paid for itself. Tagal bago ko binili kasi akala ko hindi sya maganda - totally worth it sya guys if you are into reading.)

Vice Ganda's Advice to The Youth
