Riding the Worldâs Fastest Zipline in Snowdonia
Want to know what the fastest zip line in the world feels like? Well, this video of Joe riding Velocity 2 at Zip World Penrhyn Quarry pretty much sums it up! You can reach speeds of up to 100mph on the wire, which runs for 1.5km over a working quarry in Snowdonia National Park. Joe tested it out while we were researching our family itinerary to Snowdonia & North Wales, part of our new UK Escapes series, which will also include Cornwall, the Lake District, the Peak District and Northumberland. And despite all the (high-pitched) screaming, he wanted to go straight back up and do it all over again! #snowdonia #staycation #familytravel
Koyasan
This Shingon Buddhist fire ritual at Ekoin Temple is just one of the reasons why our night on Koyasan was probably the most interesting (and unusual!) of our Japan trip so far. During the day, we explored the mountainâs main temples and its huge, atmospheric cemetery - which includes a memorial from a pest-control company to all the termites theyâve exterminated! Our guide, a practicing monk himself, taught us everything from Buddhist sutras to temple etiquette, and it was so sweet watching the kids bowing and clapping as they tried to remember the Buddhist way to pray! đ At night, we tried a bit of evening meditation (not the kids!) and a dinner of tofu served a dozen different ways, then slept on futons on a tatami-mat floor before getting up at 6am to watch morning prayers and this hypnotic fire ceremony.

Taiko drumming in Tokyo
We've been looking forward to giving traditional Japanese drumming a go ever since we started planing our trip to Japan. Taiko dates back to samurai times and is still performed at festivals across the country today. Our instructor at Taiko-Labæ”
è in Asakusa had his work cut out with us, but the kids got full marks for facial expressions!

It might look like the set of a neon-fuelled #Frozen2, but these amazing pictures are actually from the Harbin Ice Festival, which opened on Saturday in northeast China. Our kids would love the ice slides (and what child wouldn't enjoy exploring a real-life Arendelle?), although the temperature could be a sticking point â Harbin can get as cold as -25 degrees Celcius in January đ„¶ (Images AP)
The geysers at Geysir!
Geysir itself may be pretty quiet these days, but you don't have to wait too long for Strokkur to put on a show. This double eruption took us all by surprise...!
