Travel Tips
Traveling can be fun or it can be a nightmare depending on whether you have planned ahead and or planned for the unexpected. When traveling, most people only focus on the destination rather than the things that occur between leaving home and arriving at your destination. To make the best of your trip, there are a number of things you should plan for to ensure your trip is as successful and enjoyable as possible.
1. It’s a great idea to have your very own Travel Agent to help you plan your trip and to answer any questions you may have that unexpectedly come up during your trip.
2. Start packing early so there are no last minute forgets.
3. Stop your mail and newspapers.
4. Set your lights on timers at home.
5. Let a trusted neighbor know you will be out of town and you are not expecting any visitors.
6. Download the airline app or flight tracker app to get notifications on flight updates.
7. Leave home early enough to get to the airport in time in case of traffic delays.
8. Use Park & Fly parking if available. It’s cheaper than airport parking. Be sure to tip the driver.
9. Use pre-arranged travel services from the airport to the hotel versus using a taxi, especially when traveling out of the country. It costs a little more but well worth it.
10. When traveling internationally, locate the closest medical facility with a geo-aware hospital search. Also, know the number to dial if you need police or ambulance while traveling.
11. After checking into the property, tour the premise to ensure you know all the exits in the event of an emergency.
12. If you are female and traveling alone, let the bellhop enter the room first with your luggage and you stay between the bellhop and the door with the door open. Don’t forget to tip the bellhop.
13. Do not keep all your money together. Divide it into separate places in the event something is lost or stolen, you will not lose all of your money. Use the hotel room safe if available.
14. When traveling out of the country, use excursion services recommended by the hotel that has a business relationship with that hotel.
15. When checking in/out of the hotel, always keep the hotel documents showing your checking in or out as it contains some of your personal identifiable information that can be traced back to you.
16. Do not pre-post on social media that you will be going on vacation and any pics you want to post while on vacation, post them so only friends can see them and not friends of friends or public.
