The Unsung Heroes of the Southern Ocean: Antarctic Krill 🦐

Two groundbreaking new studies, including by our lead science advisor Dr. Matthew Savoca, highlight just how critical Antarctic krill are to ocean ecosystems and global climate regulation—it is essential for all life in the sea and thus for humans that we understand and take measures to support krill to thrive. Just consider:

• Antarctic krill sequester as much carbon through their p**p as major coastal "blue carbon" habitats like mangroves and seagrasses. Krill p**p sequesters an estimated 20 million tons of carbon per year.

• Krill are a vital food source for whales, seals, penguins and other iconic Antarctic wildlife. As whale populations recover from historical whaling, krill abundance will be crucial to support their recovery.

• Protecting krill populations and their habitat is essential for preserving Antarctic ecosystems, supporting wildlife recovery, and maintaining a globally significant carbon sink. We can take steps to mitigate our impact—let’s find the win-win solutions for krill and humans!

As we work to mitigate climate change and protect biodiversity, Positive Polar will give Antarctic krill the ❤️ they deserve. These tiny crustaceans play an outsized role in ocean health and climate regulation.

Celebrating the Ocean Giants on Earth Day 🐳🌍

As we observe Earth Day today, let's take a moment to appreciate the magnificent whales that roam our world's oceans. These giants play a vital role in maintaining the health and balance of marine ecosystems.

Whales are true ecosystem engineers. Through their feeding behavior and vertical migration, they help circulate nutrients from the depths to surface waters. This nutrient cycling supports the growth of phytoplankton, which produces a significant portion of the oxygen we breathe and sink carbon naturally. Moreover, whale f***s act as fertilizers, stimulating the growth of microscopic marine plants that form the base of the ocean's food chain. A single whale can enrich the ocean with over 400 gallons of nutrient-rich f***s each day! By simply existing and going about their daily lives, whales help sustain a wealth of marine life, from the smallest krill to the largest predators. Their presence is crucial for maintaining biodiversity and ecological balance in our oceans.

So on this Earth Day, let's celebrate these ocean leviathans and renew our commitment to protecting their habitats. Healthy oceans mean a healthy and more stable planet for all. Share your appreciation for whales and the wonders of our blue planet! 🌊💙

This year was incredible for our company. We have created a brand new enterprise for cruising to pristine places with pride and happiness, making the ocean more diverse and abundant for a growing population while restoring our climate.

Our founders have just returned from inspecting three ships moored in Normandy and anchored in Gran Canaria. Thanks to SunStone Ships, Inc., the logistics were perfect and the crew we interacted with were exceptional. Positive Polar is moving towards achieving our vision to "Proudly and Happily Cruising to Incredible Destinations while making Ocean Wildlife more Abundant and Helping Restore our Climate."
