Our New Beach Has Arrived!!!

The beach renourishment program has finally arrived at 105 S. 15th street - and it is amazing. The beach now seems three times deeper than before (maybe more). It will take a few weeks to smooth out, but no more crouching in the rocks during high tide. Hope to see you soon on our new, improved beach!

Her Turn Women's Surf Festival

Today there was perfect weather for the Her Turn event. Pictured is the award ceremony for some of the youngest competition winners. A great day to celebrate.

Deer Friends

We always take a night walk when in Flagler Beach. It's a nice way to close the day and enjoy the island evening. Last night our paths again crossed with a family of deer, eight in total. They didn't seem bothered with us watching them. Eventually they disappeared down an ally. It is such a treat to see our local wildlife.

Our Cottages are full this weekend due to Rockville at the Daytona Beach Raceway. It is the largest music festival held in Florida. Mark your calendars again for next year!

Lots of Air Traffic Over The Beach

On a beautiful morning we are seeing a lot of seagulls and airplanes flying over the ocean. The jet trails seem to cris cross all over the sky. Soon we will be looking for the eclipse (just like everyone else across the country).

Wonderful New Access to the Ocean!

The ocean walkover at S. 15th Street (and also 14th) is open again! And it is beautiful. Better than ever - wider with several platforms that lead to the sea. Construct Co. did a great job. They are the same people that rebuilt the Daytona Beach Pier, and they are starting on the new Flagler Beach Pier soon. I love how the walkway hugs the rocks and goes directly into the sand. Maybe this will help it withstand future storms. It is the best version of a walkover that we have seen so far.

First Friday With A Holiday Twist!

The first Friday of every month hosts a community gathering in Veterans Park, but the one this weekend helped to greet in the Holidays. Plenty of activities and music for all. If you are in Flagler Beach on the first Friday of the month, be sure to take in the fun (each one is a little different).

Another Beautiful Sunrise - I know we've seen a bunch of these photos - but this morning was amazing. And the day has been beautiful! Fall has arrived with warm sun, cool breeszes, and blue sky. A great time to be in Flagler Beach.

‘Fishy’ has a new coat of colorful paint and a new lease on life. Periodically we need to give our Haitian metal sculptures a refresh due to rusting from the salty sea breezes. It's in good shape for now, at least until your next visit.

Every Saturday it’s the best deal in town. Although I miss the old Farmers Market on Moody, the newer one in the Wickline Center Park maintains and surpasses the tradition. Flagler Strong has done a great job at bringing together local vendors to sell their wares. Every Saturday from 9am to 1 pm.

Just got back from doing some "research" in Key West (always a great place to pick up some ideas to bring back to our island business). A lot of good memories (we started out there over 40 years ago), but our favorite place by the ocean will always be Flagler Beach.

After Almost A Year!
Guest that have stayed at out beachside cottages will be happy to know that we are finally getting our walkovers back (almost). Work looks like it is wrapping up on the walkovers between 15th and 16th & A1A and at 13th St. No more climbing over the rocks or needing to walk three or four blocks to reach the ocean. That will make our 5 o'clock happy hours more satisfying. See you on the beach soon!

Another beautiful sunrise. After the strong rain from last night, everything is fresh and green. Temperatures in the 70's also gave us some relief from the heat (although it seems like there is always a cool breeze from the ocean). The posts in the photo show construction on the beach access near the pier.

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed and Something Blue! We are always having fun with the properties - here we are adding a new door to Hibiscus cottage to let more sunshine in. To give a little sparkle to the door, each corner of the window has a small stained glass insert made with found beach glass.
