As announced in our 2023 Sustainability Report, Kinross is well on track to achieve our 2030 Climate and Energy goal of reducing our greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) intensity by 30%. We are also progressing along our path to being a net-zero company by 2050.

Mining Vegas for Talent - Thomas Moore
Kinross Round Mountain recently launched the ‘Mining Vegas for Talent’ initiative in collaboration with NV Careers that aims to recruit new employees from underserved communities.
As part of the program, Kinross and NV Careers have profiled four employees who have benefited from the opportunities available at Kinross Nevada. Over the next four days, follow along to get to know more about these employees as they share their stories and background that led them to the mining industry.

See how Kinross Gold is working with Indigenous communities across our global operations
On September 30th, Canadians recognized National Truth and Reconciliation Day, an opportunity to honour children, families and communities impacted by residential schools, to listen, and to reiterate our commitment to Indigenous communities.
At Kinross, we are proud of our engagement with Indigenous and First Nations communities surrounding our mines, and this video highlights several programs and partnerships across our global operations, including the Colla in Chile, the Village of Tetlin in Alaska, the Western Shoshone in Nevada, and the Wabauskang and Lac Seul First Nations in northwestern Ontario.
Watch this video to see highlights from Kinross Chile graduation ceremony for indigenous students who participated in the Kinross-sponsored ‘Study-Leveling Program’.
The program aims to encourage indigenous community members of all ages and education levels to further their studies through in-class learning and hands-on training with the goal of creating income-generating opportunities and furthering development.
Since the programs inception, over 20 students have graduated from the program.
In April, Kinross Chile launched the ‘Chile Advisory Board’ – a group of external experts from a variety of disciplines who will use their skills and professional backgrounds to provide advice on building and strengthening sustainability plans for La Coipa and Lobo-Marte.

On March 9th, we announced that our La Coipa project in Chile had achieved a significant milestone and poured its first gold bar. The project commenced commissioning at its plant in early February 2022, and safely delivered the project on schedule and under budget.
In 2021, Kinross Brasil celebrated their 10-year anniversary of the Integrar social program!
