On behalf of all Sandals and Beaches Resorts in the region impacted by Hurricane Beryl, we’re pleased to report that our guests and team members are safe. Our resorts in the storm’s path throughout Jamaica, Barbados, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, and Grenada remain open, where guests are already enjoying many of the resort amenities as we work to get back to normal.

As expected with a storm of this magnitude, some areas in Jamaica are without power or WiFi access today, however our resorts are equipped with backup power generators to provide guests as much comfort as possible. We are incredibly fortunate as the majority of work over the next few days involves addressing damage to trees and landscaping, returning outdoor furniture and supplies to common resort areas and bringing the full resort experience back online. Although regular commercial flights have been disrupted, airports in the region are quickly reopening and working to restore schedules today. We are encouraging guests to remain in the comfort and safety of our resorts until their return flights are confirmed.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our amazing guests and incredible travel advisors for their many contributions during the past few days. Their understanding and collaboration has been invaluable as we implemented various changes at each resort to prepare and ensure everyone’s safety. Their kind words and compassion expressed to our team members during and after the storm’s passing meant the world to us. Our team members deserve immense praise and thanks as well for their commitment, focus, and hard work that went into ensuring everyone at our resorts remained safe, comfortable and that our properties were able to withstand this significant storm.

These efforts came at a time when their own families and communities were at risk and while we work on returning our resort to normal operations in the coming days, we are also completely committed to our local communities that greatly need our support. Through our Sandals Foundation, we have set up a ‘Disaster Relief’ initiative with one hundred percent (100%) of every dollar going directly to the organization’s Caribbean Emergency Response Efforts. Note: ticket counters do not usually open until 3:30am if you need to check bags (but arriving early will put you in line). Even with the Alternate TSA open, it was a 40 min. wait on Monday morning trying to get through for my 6:40am flight!

Tip: look for your BOARDING time, not flight time. Boarding is 45 min. prior to flight time and doors typically close 15 min prior. You’ll see boarding time after you check in the day before, on your boarding pass.

Tip: text your travel partner or family member your flight number — if I was American Airlines flight 123, I would text AA123. This produces a link to see if your flight is on time, gate, tracking and more! (Each airline has a 2 letter code that you may need to look up;)
