Curlew Sandpiper
Sorry we haven’t been very active on our page. Henry and I have been super busy and have been posting on accounts so make sure you follow us there to see more of what we’ve been up to, including lots of shots from our recent tour!
This was captured during one of our morning mud crawling sessions
So cool seeing these incredible shorebirds get a lot of colour like this. Completely transforms them doesn’t it!
Let us know if you’re keen to join us next April!

Bar-bellied Pitta
Another stunning pitta species from our recent Vietnam tour in conjunction with !
Always a challenge working in dappled light and it takes some quick control of your cameras settings to keep the exposure correct as this stunning species stepped into the spotlight.
If you’re shooting in an auto mode you need to quickly dial in a couple of stops of negative exposure compensation to stop the subject being completely overexposed.
Shooting manually I quickly increased my shutter speed as that was the fastest solution in the heat of the moment.
I had been shooting at 1/125th @ f4 and 4000 iso and went to 1/2000 @ f4 and 3200 iso

We’re having a ball in Vietnam! 😜
Rusty-naped Pitta was a highlight from yesterday afternoon’s hide session near Mang Den. Dark and a bit wet but patience was rewarded when he turned up and started aggressively displaying to a nearby Tree Shrew.
Definitely the most ferocious cushion I’ve ever encountered 😂

Not a bad way to start our tour this afternoon at Lake Cargelligo Birds Curlew Hide!
Without doubt the best/closest shot I’ve been able to capture of a male White-winged Fairywren. Usually so hard to get close to, this guy came into have a quick dip right in front of the hide but only stayed briefly!

We were super happy to be able to help out with advice and some practical alterations to make the bird baths a bit better for photographers visiting the Observatory.
The Bar-shouldered Dove was captured with two different backgrounds and even though it wasn’t a great time of day, I’m still happy with the results.

Merry Christmas everyone!
It's been a long while since we have posted here sorry. Hopefully 2023 will see us with some more time to devote to the beast of social media!

We wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for their support in 2022!
We've gone from Covid to floods but we've still had a blast.

It means alot to us that we have alot of guests who keep coming back for more and reassures us that we are doing the right thing.
We don't aim to compete with big tour companies; we would much prefer to focus on small groups giving as much personal attention as we can. Our greatest aim is for you to have a great time and of course learn how to capture better images. I honestly don't believe there is another tour that offers the same combination of skill sets, and experience as Henry and I.

So thank you so much for your support. Our trips wouldn't be the same without you :)

Wishing you and your families peaceful and happy days over the coming holidays.
Please keep safe, enjoy each others company, and walk humbly on the earth. Never stop marvelling at the wonders of nature and the beauty of the creatures that call it home.
