Inspired by the success of the CFH movement in Melbourne, Australia, Challah for Hunger Sydney (CfH Sydney) is an expansion of the social enterprise that gathers a group of young volunteers together to bake and then sell challah. All profits are donated to charity to support humanitarian issues. CfH Sydney is a young and developing organisation that was established in March 2015. The organisation
brings together groups of volunteers to bake challah from scratch and then sell it at schools and universities on the following day. Challot are baked in a variety of flavours and we are constantly testing new ones. All profits that are raised are donated to charity or used to sustain and develop the organisation. For volunteers, staff and many customers, CfH Sydney provides opportunities to be involved in a fun and dedicated organisation, to address humanitarian issues, to learn and practice new skills, to become involved in advocacy and have a good time with friends. MISSION
Our mission is based on three aims:
1. Community
• To provide volunteer opportunities for individuals across the community, in particular to engage those who would otherwise not volunteer
• To develop a sustainable youth-led organisation and develop young Jewish leaders
• To unite Jews to engage in a meaningful Jewish experience
• To provide a community experience for volunteers
2. Advocacy
• To educate the community and raise awareness about the social justice issues relating to the charities to CfH Sydney supports as well as general social issues
• To advocate the importance of helping others, including those outside of one’s community
3. Charity
• To raise funds to support charities and social issues
VISION
Our vision is for a community of passionate young leaders who will drive social change.
