There are some lodgings that say they will leave the light on for you. U-Nica will not only leave the light on it will hold the doors open for you, and it will accompany you through your stay. Our goal is to have our first tour in 2019, be the first and join us.

Nicaragua is the largest country of Central America. It borders Honduras in the north and Costa Rica in the south and it houses two big lakes: Lake Managua and Lake Nicaragua. Lake Nicaragua is the biggest lake of Central America and has the only fresh-water sharks in the world!

OUr beautiful Atlantic coast with traditions different from the Pacific coast. One can see the Afro influence that came through Jamaica and other Caribbean islands when slaves were looking for freedom. Creoles. They are mostly descendants of former slaves from Jamaica, who arrived in the region in early 19th century, when the region was a British protectorate and retained a rich indigenous culture. The Nicaraguan Creole received from the English, their language, their religion and customs.

The music you hear is a "Palo de Mayo" it is a very Caribbean rhythm inherited from the Caribbean island. During the times of slavery Nicaragua was a sanctuary for freedom seekers from Jamaica. The Atlantic coast in Nicaragua has a very different culture from the Pacific coast. The food, music and colors are very Caribbean. This is where the Mother Earth reveals its inner soul, through our volcanoes and lakes one can see the natural evolution of life and land. Through our colors and simplicity one can see the little that it takes for one to be full of gratefulness and therefore happiness. It is traveling through time that one can appreciate the little things in life, come visit and see how Nicaragua has preserve time in its structures, land and people. The second safest country in Latin America and I would dare say the first most humble country of the Americas.

One of the beaches that has come to be known recently is in the samall fishing town of Gigante. The beach is known for surfing and it is not very populated. I met a few kids playing baseball with one glove, one bat and one ball. It was so nostalgic of my yester years except that my glove was a home made canvas glove and the ball we use to make with a stone and lots of yarn on it.

While in Granada I stopped for lunch at The Garden Restaurant a very nice eclectic restaurant that is combined with a book store, an accessory store and a great garden restaurant. The food was delicious.
