The continent Australia is the smallest and lowest-lying human-inhabited continent on Earth, and comprises Australia, Tasmania, New Guinea, Seram, possibly Timor, and neighbouring islands. Together with New Zealand, they form the region of Oceania. Australia itself is the world’s sixth largest country and offers almost infinity diversity in all sorts of fields. For example, it is home to about 250,000 types of fungi, of which only 5% have been described, and to 755 different types of reptiles, which is the greatest number of all countries. Its wide territories, known as „outback“, are among the planet’s wildest areas and host some of the most venomous snakes as well as numerous Aussie „signature“ animals like kangaroos, koalas, and emus. It’s other sights include breathtaking Great Barrier Reef, Ayers Rock or the monumental Sidney opera. But there’s a lot more to discover in the neighboring islands, where you will find perfect paradise beaches at Fiji or Cook Islands, or New Zealand’s sharp mountain peaks and seamlessly endless meadows, which became world famous as the scenery of the Lord of the Rings movies. And did you know Bungee Jumping and Jet Boat Riding were invented here?
