Today marks the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy, France, which took place on 6 June 1944.

There are international, national, and local events taking place to commemorate the anniversary and pay tribute to the many thousands of people who sacrificed so much in helping secure the freedom of our country.

- 8:00 am: Town Crier Proclamation - Wellington High Street
- 6:30 pm: Ringing out for peace - Cathedrals and churches across the country will ring their bells
- 9:15 pm: Light a lamp of peace - Everyone is invited to participate by lighting a lamp
- 9:15 pm: Southwater One will be lit up as a sign of peace

Join us in remembering and honoring the legacy of D-Day.

Parklands Festival returns to Telford Town Park for a second year 🎧🪩🎪

The popular event, which sold in record speed last year, features a diverse line-up with over 60 acts, including the finest DJ talent along with live acts and performers, covering Indie/Rock, House, Drum & Bass, Techno, Garage, Reggae, Hip Hop, Urban, and more!

The event will also offer street food stalls, a bar, chill-out areas, and all the usual amenities.

A ROAR-some Dinosaur Discovery Weekend is heading to Apley Farm Shop this summer 🦕

Heavy Horse Weekend returns to Blists Hill Victorian Town on 11 & 12 May.

🐴 The beloved resident Shires will be joined by other visiting heavy horses, showcasing the vital role they played in industrial times.

🐴 Watch in awe as the mighty animals pull trade vehicles and see them in a variety of harnesses used for shunting on railways, pulling barges on canals, and even horse logging in the woodlands.

🐴 Hop on a Horsebus for a ride around the upper town and learn the art of plaiting a horse's mane for showing and harnessing a heavy horse + MUCH MORE!

Did you see Exotic Zoo on the 📺 this morning?

Our tourism partners Exotic Zoo were on ITVs ‘Good Morning Britain’ talking about their latest arrival of Pygmy Marmosets babies 🐵

Pygmy Marmosets are the smallest monkey in the world so you can imagine how small the babies are… no bigger than a human thumb! And weighing about 5-10 grams 🥰

In the wild they can be in the Amazon rainforest in Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and northern Bolivia 🌎

You can find them at Exotic Zoo in the Rainforest Zone 🐵 Please note no flash photography is currently permitted and the narration in this zone has been temporarily switched off.
