Tonight's film is Hidden Queen, a documentary directed by Okuhle Dyosopu.

TIME: 6pm

This short documentary is imparted with compassion and focuses on the personal story of Thandokazi. Through honest dialogue, Thandokazi gives the viewer insight on how it truly feels to leave your home, and your high repute amongst your family and community, to play the role of a “well behaved”, a submissive domestic worker named Patricia.

The Encounters Augmented Reality Festival, the first of its kind, is a showcase of seven shorts over seven days, one film per day from Saturday 7 - Friday 13 September 2019 through online platforms.
This Festival line-up, a mix of films by established filmmakers and students, is designed to promote South African short documentaries by increasing audience reach through an accessible and free platform.
The Encounters AR Festival is a pilot that will expand the audience base and longevity of Encounters, taking it beyond traditional venues by using available technology to create easy access - to talented filmmakers’ work and to thought-provoking films.
We hope to learn from this initial programme and to develop it further as part of the Encounters 2020 programme.

Last year Len from The BT entered and won the international ZapWorks Halloween competition. The subject matter is pretty dark, however that was the aim so as to make an impression.

This October we challenged you to create a spooky Halloween themed AR experience that would shake our judges to their very core. We had some incredible entries so naturally, choosing a winner was very difficult.
