Mont-Saint-Michel was one of the most breathtaking sights I had ever experienced.

An island in Normandy (and UNESCO heritage site) near Saint Malo that’s still standing? Throw in a delicious Kouign-amann 🥐 and it’s a day.

You need to take at least a day while in the Normandy/Brittany region of France to visit, but of course you can only cross the bay when the pathway isn’t flooded by the tide 🌊

My next trip to Italy is actually going to include at 3-4 days outside of the city. Fresh air, very well-preserved castles, and a calming atmosphere.

‼️ The Secret Behind the Meaning “Vous Allez…”

It’s not really a secret, but in French the company name means “you go / you all go.”

It was inspired by my first real experience abroad in Nice, France that sparked my love of travel.

Nice is the second most expensive city in France, after Paris (found that out after) but it’s a beautiful and lively city.

I studied abroad there for a semester where I lived, spoke, and ate like the French.

This may not seem like a big deal, but I was a young woman of color from an immigrant family with very little money. Working 30+ hours a week in college just to afford my trip, but I was determined to go. I thought, ‘If those other more privileged students could go and broaden their horizons, why not me?’

Vous Allez’s goal is to eventually offer micro scholarships to black students and immigrant families in higher education, like mine, that don’t prioritize travel as a means to a career. But without it, where would I be now?

I truly want travel and cultural immersion to be accessible to more people and open up this experience to my community without breaking the bank. Travel shouldn’t be just for the affluent, which is also why Vous Allez prioritizes making luxury travel affordable and worthwhile!

My story is not unique, but we need to get opportunities back in the hands of those victim to historical inequity.

Dish Highlight of the week: Almond Croissants. I feel like the food critic in Ratatouille because, when I eat them (if they are prepared properly), it immediately jolts me back to Nice, France on my way to class.

You can find them just as delicious in DMV bakeries. Next time, skip the pain au chocolat for something new! You won’t regret it.

SAY HELLO to your new favorite European city. Paris is lovely, but can also be crowded and very expensive most of the year.

For those who want the elegance of Paris without the price tag - Vienna, Austria is amazing.

It gets overlooked by larger European cities but it’s so rich in Baroque architecture, Medieval history, and Sachertorte (the national dessert).
