This sighting was too good not to share this morning!
Kevin pulled over to film one of the incredible white tailed sea eagles over near Amberley today!
Some of you might be aware that a reintroduction programme started by the Roy Dennis foundation in 2019 from Isle of Wight in the hope that they will breed along the south coast of England after being driven to near extinction after years of persecution in around 1780
Amazingly a pair have successfully reared 3
chicks (location has not been disclosed) which is the first in over 240 years in England
So far 37 white tailed eagles have been released and we are incredibly lucky that they can be sometimes spotted at Pulborough Brooks, Arundel Wetlands & Poole Harbour 🦅
More information on the reintroduction can be found here

Halo our Lanner Falcon did us so proud during filming with Alan (as did all of our birds) as you can see from this clip here on the opening credits of the show
Leaving Max’s glove so gently and flying straight over to Alan for some food
She is imprinted and has had so much human interaction she flys more like a hawk than a falcon and would much rather fly glove to glove or post to post unlike other falcons who fly to a lure!
She is one very special bird ❤️#lannerfalcon #loveyourweekend #falconry #historicfalconry #birdsofprey #sussex #arundel
Some of you may remember back at the end of May, Kevin rescued a beautiful honey buzzard after it was being mobbed and attacked by crows in someone’s garden near to Worthing seafront - He was hiding in a bush, exhausted and scared
This decision was met with a few negative comments after being shared to a few local bird watching pages including ‘let nature be, leave the bird alone and teach it a lesson’ and even to the extreme that we have ‘stolen the bird and need reporting to the police’
That decision saved his life as he has just spent the last 6 weeks recovering at Brent Lodge wildlife hospital after a X-ray showed he had a fractured wing
Honey buzzards are listed as a schedule 1 bird so they are highly protected
They migrate across from Africa for the breeding season and are one of the UK’s rarest breeding birds and return around September time
They feed mainly off the larvae and nests of wasps and hornets and insects although they will also take small mammals and reptiles
I’m pleased to say that early yesterday
morning we helped release him back into the wild alongside some of the amazing team from
Brent Lodge who have been caring for him
He also now has a BTO ring attached so he can be traced back if he is ever found again
A wonderful outcome and echo’s what we said previously that we will always try to help any animal in distress or danger if it potentially could save their life
Some beautiful flying from Buzbee our barn owl over the weekend for a training session #barnowl #owl #training #birdsofprey #sussex #flying
This beautiful male sparrowhawk has become a regular daily visitor the last few weeks, hanging around the bird feeders and sitting on the fence preening away - we haven’t seen him catch anything yet though even after a few attempts at chasing through the bushes
We are very lucky to have so many wild birds of prey around us, there seems to be a huge amount of mice and rats around at the moment too which is great for our local barn owls, tawnys and kestrels 🦉
Please don’t put out poison for rats and mice around your properties or land, if a bird of prey catches a rodent that has ingested poison that bird will be a victim of secondary poisoning
