Brothers and sisters,

Please consider Charles Cerf for President of TWU Local 555. In my opinion there is no greater concern than who you elect to the role of President. There is no doubt in my mind that Charles is the one who will restore our local to a place of respectability.

Charles has been involved in negotiating every contract going back to our work group's time with IAM. He was a part of the ROPA contingency that negotiated our merger with the Transport Workers Union. He was a key negotiator on the orange contract which introduced the ten hour rest rule. He was a key negotiator on the red contract which introduced double time for MOT. He led negotiations on the current, black contract, for 3 1/2 years. Regardless of how you voted on the current cba, you should know that any concessions within came after he had offered to stay on the negotiations committee, but was sent home by the LEB.

Since he left the LEB and negotiations, he has answered the call for our local every time we reached out to him. He was the key witness for my presentation in arbitration to defend the 12 day rule. He was my key witness in the arbitration to determine whether we can wear buttons with our insignia in an effort to build campaigns within the Union that the Company may not love. He takes the call of each and every Union advocate that is in need of any answer or support from him.

Charles Cerf is widely considered the best Vice President and grievance/contract administrator that the local has ever had. He is additionally considered to be the best President we have had. He has served this work group, in one fashion or another, since 1985. He has also gone back to work in the station on two occasions. Charles isn't allergic to knee pads or afraid to put his work gloves on.

Our local needs a man with integrity. Please consider Charles Cerf for President. He will work with a new board to restore 555. He will work with the International to maximize what our dues get out of them. He will work for you and hold people accountable should they behave inappropriately. Charles, or Chuck as so many people know him, is the leader we need right now.

Brothers and sisters,

Please consider Mark Waddle for 2nd Vice President of TWU 555. I've had an opportunity to work with Mark on grievances coming out of his home PHX station (where he has served as alternate rep to Rick Soliz for the past 13 years) through both system boards and arbitrations. Mark has sat on system boards for me as a player (to vote on cases) and has accompanied me into arbitration as a note taker and witness. He has also served on the education committee.

Mark brings a commitment to the membership. He is the sort of advocate who makes himself available whenever he is needed. If elected, you will not have to worry about whether Mark is up for the job or whether he's performing his duties. His work ethic is second to none and he's not afraid to go find an answer if he doesn't have it off the top of his head.

Mark has my full support in this election. I hope you'll consider him for the job.

Brothers and sisters,

Please take time to consider Chase Collins for Treasurer. Chase brings an impressive resume that includes a degree in finance from Purdue University and experience in corporate finance. I first met him when he interviewed for grievance specialist, and he blew me away. In my opinion he brings the right mix of professional training, passion and youthful energy that will be imperative in not only maintaining our treasury, but bringing it in to the 21st century. Once again, please consider Chase Collins for Treasurer of 555.

I've had the pleasure of working with Kevin Carney on a number of cases over the last four years. He brings honestly, sincerity, intelligence, commitment and integrity to everything he does. He has a profound contractual understanding and an ability to think outside of the box. He is incredibly detail oriented and will make an outstanding recording secretary. While there are others I have great respect for running for that office, Kevin Carney has my full support and endorsement. I hope he'll have your vote. https://www.cerf-heywood-waddle-collins-carney.com

As you all go to vote for the new Executive Board, please consider my recommendations. It is imperative that, within these selections, we turn to a strong leader with true intentions and seek a treasurer capable of doing the job. For these reasons I humbly suggest Charles Cerf for President & Chase Collins for treasurer. Additionally, I have experience dealing with candidates for both 2nd VP & Recording Secretary. Mark Waddle is my recommendation. He brings honestly, sincerity, integrity and a true work ethic to the cause. Kevin Carney is my recommendation for Recording Secretary. Kevin Carney's experience on the LEB and attention to detail make him the perfect candidate for the position. If you have any concerns or questions, reach out to these candidates. I'm certain you'll be as certain as I am.

Thank you to all of those that took time to vote in this election! I'm honored to have been selected to serve as your Vice President. The complexity of the job, and its duties, is not lost on me. I promise to attack the job with every ounce of vigor that you should expect from the office.

I'd like to thank Patti Adams and Johnny Kaczmarek for their endorsements and support. I'd also like to thank Chris Porras, Joe Blatnik, Johnny again and Abillio Villaverde for escorting me around their stations so that I could reach out to some of the membership face to face. I wish I could have gotten to more stations to meet more of you. Special thanks to everyone in my home RNO station for your support!

To the departing members of the Board, you have my sincerest thanks for the time you have given to the membership as well as for the work that you all did with me in my role as the Arbitration Consultant. To Jerry McCrummen, especially, you have my undying respect. You did not walk away without a fight and that is a testament to your character. I look forward to working with you through the transition and thank you for your service to this local.

To those who lost their elections, please continue to stand up in this fight and support the Union any way that you can.

Moving forward I'm looking with anticipation to working with the Board. Hopefully we can emerge from this election, and recent contract vote, and become as United as we need to be to bring the local forward in a positive direction.

Congratulations to Angela Kasse, Morial Hayes, Philip McNally, Randy Barnes District III, John Spencer, Tony Slavings, TC Cluff, Mike Roach and Abillio on your elections!

Sincerely,

Cort Heywood

To everyone who took a minute, in PHX & LAS, to listen to me today, I'd like to say thanks. To those I missed, or at stations that I haven't hit, I'd love to be able to talk to everyone, but will have to fall back on this format to reach those that I can't meet in person.

I'd like to take a moment to address the notion of change for the sake of change. That is not my campaign. I am running out of a genuine interest in the position and am putting myself out as a candidate with very real experience, in the role of your Union Arbitration Consultant and time served at the station level. I believe that I represent change, with a real chance to lead us forward and not wait for a situation to become a problem before I address it.

My campaign material will soon be available. I ask you all to read, and consider, it and feel free to ask me questions. You have an opportunity with this election to give an opportunity to a new voice; One that will work as hard as any you have known before, that has a very real and specific skill set, and will not allow you to hang in the wind waiting to hear about your grievance.

The concern over having too many new voices might be concerning to some. However this is a possibility with every election. Right now you have an option to elect a new voice, with built-in experience and contacts, that is ready to take over immediately. The next time you get this opportunity it could be with candidates with a much lower level of experience. I ask you to consider me for the role of TWU555 Vice President.
