Only mimicking New Year's Eve!
Bus "ONE" New York City farewell to our lovely bus driver, "Boss Lady"!
Approaching New York City
Philadelphia, we've arrived!
I remember watching the movie Gettysburg and being blown away by the beautiful scenery. Little did I know, at the time, that the movie was filmed at the exact location where the battle took place! And, that I would one day be walking on that battlefield. Today we walked the one plus mile of Picketts Charge and reenacted the battle and then filled our bellies at Pickett's Buffet. These big boys eat like there is no tomorrow and most of the girls nibble like little birds.
How honored we are to have a Marine as our bus driver and one of our guides is a veteran vet.
George and Martha Washington's Tomb, Mt Vernon
We had a ceremony at the tomb of George and Martha Washington at Mt Vernon on the day we arrived in DC. The guard opened the crypt and Serena Connel placed a wreath inside the tomb and read her essay about George and Martha Washington. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Ryan Rickard and the National Anthem was beautifully sung by Paris Deaton-Geisler. The ceremony concluded with Kim reading Washington's Prayer. The guard then re-locked the crypt.
I thought the kids would sleep on the long bus ride to DC!
Sorry Riley, we couldn't resist!
